Quantitation of Stack Gas Flow

The presently available standards for measurement of gas flow in stacks and industrial flues are reviewed. Various problems associated with probe traverse techniques using the pitot-static tube, the Type S pitot tube, a directional type pitot tube, and hot wire anemometers are described. Recommendations are made with respect to the selection of velocity measurement station, and the selective application of velocity measurement devices is discussed.
