Seventeen papers were presented on improved instruments and techniques for measuring the size, number, and composition of particles in process streams. Recent studies on cascade impactors, cyclones, and diffusion batteries were reported. Several papers discussed methods for making in situ particle size or mass determinations through light scattering. Systems that have been developed to determine the collection efficiency of electrostatic precipitators, scrubbers, and bag filters were described.
