Abstract:A dye decolorizing Aspergillus HD 1 was isolated from soil. According to the identification of morphology, it belongs to Aspergillus sp. Strain HD 1 was very effect to decolorize xanthene dye. The decolorization rate of rose bengal for HD 1 could reach 99 0%. Media, carbon sources and nitrogen sources could affect the decolorization. The decolorization capacity of 8 different azo dyes was also tested by strain HD 1. The decolorization rate for all the 8 azo dyes were above 67 6% and half of them above 92 0%. The decolorizases of rose bengal for HD 1 were constitutive ones and were mainly located in the cell of HD 1. The ratio of the decolorizase located in or out of the cell of HD 1 could be changed when rose bengal was added to the medium of growth, and simulated the synthesis of the intracellular enzymes. The products of rose bengal degraded by HD 1 were determined by UV visible spectrophotometer. The absorption peak in 544.8 nm of rose bengal was almost completely disappeared, while the absorption in other UV district was increased, disappeared or diminished.
