Abstract:With the recent rapid growth of China''s economy, the resource and environmental issues have raised great concerns. Consequently, research in the areas of resource and environment became more and more active, and the research hotspots have been varying significantly. This article analyzed and summarized the projects funded by the Management Science Division of National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC) in 1990-2015, as well as variation trends in research hotspots during these years, and provided perspectives for the future. The statistical data showed that the ratio of funded projects in the field of resource and environmental policy and management to that of the whole Macro-Management and Policy Division increased from 4.9% in 1990 to 15.7% in 2015, representing the largest research field of the division in terms of the number of funded projects. Projects examining energy and CO2 emissions accounted for approximately 50% of the projects of resource and environmental policy and management, and more than 50% of the energy and CO2-related projects were focusing on energy modeling, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. Now, China is going to enter the New Normal, which emphasizes the resources and energy efficiencies and green development more than ever. The department of management sciences of NSFC listed "Green and Low-Carbon Development of China''s Society and Economy" as one of the priority development fields during the 13th Five-Year period, aiming to support the innovative studies that can improve the theories and provide scientific evidences for the green, low-carbon, sustainable development of China.
