| Abstract: | The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is preparing supplemental guidance for its 1998 Guidelines for Ecological Risk Assessment (U.S. EPA, 1998) to address planning for ecological risk assessment. To date, a work group has held three colloquia to identify what potential government and private-sector users want the guidance to address, commissioned six issue papers to explore various topics, and developed one paper internally. The papers, respectively, address examples of decision analysis, interested-party involvement, a comparison of several countries’ approaches to ecological risk management, high-risk ecosystems, ecosystem services, a private-sector approach to prioritization, and an EPA collaboration. All seven are presented here, along with an invitation for discussion and input. |
