Abstract:Deapite seasonal variation, levels recorded for this study reveal significantly higher concentrations of lead in the vegetation at Clifton Junction, Salford compared with those reported by other workers elsewhere in Britain. Lead contents were found to be higher near an industrial complex than a major motorway system. Seasonal variations were probably due to growth pattern and duration of exposure of the vegetation. The consequences of this lead pollution on the potential management policies for part of the Croal/Irwell Valley Country Park are discussed.
