International collaboration in organizational behavior research
Authors:Mark F. Peterson
Abstract:The Journal of Organizational Behavior (JOB) has long sought to promote the international exchange of organizational behavior research, particularly between Europeans and North Americans. Cross‐cultural research collaboration, a sizable step past reading research reports written by scholars from nations other than one's own, is becoming an increasing part of international research exchange. The present essay draws from both normative models of international OB methods and descriptive analyses of international collaboration experiences to consider how context affects the process of international collaboration. It draws from theories of transnational management and of sources of influence and meaning to consider pros, cons, and issues in managing alternative forms of international collaboration done for various purposes.
