The study on the characteristic of sexual reproduction of Portulaca olerace was conducted so as to inquire the technique of its seed-collecting and seed-producing.The result indicated that its first flower began to bloom 40d after sowing,then it formed flower buds and blossomed continuously,at the same time it seeded;when seeds matured,the capsules opened while the seeds fell here and there.This characteristic brought difficulties in collecting and producing massive seeds and became the major factor restricting Portulaca olerace from scale cultivation.Therefore,how to find out a simple,convenient and economical method applied to manufacture massive seeds is still a issue which need groping unceasingly in practice.
