Main sources of uncertainty were sample-preserving conditions, storage conditions, manual operation, assessment technology, and so on. Based on the uncertainty component calculation of fecal coliform testing process of surface water and seawater samples, a simple uncertainty assessment method for fecal coli- form in water was built, in which fecal coliform was tested by the multiple tube fermentation method.
