Abstract:--Landscapepattern is a widely used concept for thedemonstration of landscape characteristicfeatures. The integralspatial distribution trend of landscape elements is interestedpointin the landscape ecological research, especially in those ofcomplex secondary forestregions with confusing mosaics of landcover. Trend surface analysis which used incommunity andpopulation ecological researches was introduced to reveal thelandscapepattern. A reasonable and reliable approach forapplication of trend surface analysis wasprovided in detail. Askey steps of the approach, uniform grid point sampling methodwasdeveloped. The efforts were also concentrated at an example of Present addressDepartment of Forestry, Shanxi AgriculturalUniversityGuandishan forested landscape. Somebasic rules of spatial distribution of landscape elements were exclaimed. These willbebenefit to the further study in the area to enhance the forestsustainable management andlandscape planning.
