Abstract:This study is to determine the potential effects of fullerenes on human body.Treated with 0,1.25,2.50,5.00,10.00,20.00,40.00 μg·mL-1 fullerenes,the oxidative damages of human embryo liver cells were studied.After treated with fullerenes 24 h,the activity of the CAT,and the concentration of MDA and ROS were measured.Cellular protein expression of SOD,GSH-Px and CAT were observed by Western blotting and the protein distribution of SOD was detected by immunohistochemisty.The results indicate that CAT decreased in all groups(p<0.05)compared to the control group.Both MDA of 10.00,20.00,40.00 μg·mL-1 groups and ROS of 10.00 μg·mL-1 group increased(p<0.05).With increasing the concentration of fullerenes,the expression of SOD,GSH-Px and CAT protein were inhibited.Considering the above results,a conclusion can be drawn that fullerenes inducing oxidative damages on human embryo liver cells may be through lowing down the expression of SOD,GSH-Px and CAT protein.
