Abstract:To understand the risk factors for adult depression after natural disasters, literature relate to post-natural disaster depression and including case-control studies, cross-sectional studies, and cohort studies were obtained by searching PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, China Biomedical Literature Database, CNKI,Wiper and Wanfang Database(retrieval time span from library-building to May 31,2021).Literature retrieval, research selection and data extraction were conducted independently by two researchers. Data processing was performed by Revman 5.2 software, and heterogeneous data was analyzed using random effect models. I;was utilized to measure the size of heterogeneity among researches, and the appropriate model was selected for quantitative analysis. The Bgger’s test was used to evaluate publishing bias. A total of 22 articles were included, of which 20 were in English and 2 were in Chinese. The Bgger’s test showed no publishing bias in the inclusion of the literature. Meta-analysis showed that the prevalence of depression in adults after natural disasters was 5.8% to 54.0%,and the risk factors for depression included female, unmarried, religious, less-educated, having traumatized experiences, experiences of fear, injury or bereavement in a disaster, loss of work or property, or house damage. This study provides evidence-based medical evidence for the risk factors for adult depression after natural disasters. Interventions could be tailored to different risk factors in the future to improve the mental health of survivors of natural disasters.
