A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method was developed for the analysis of acidic pesticide residues in water. The method utilizes in situ derivatization with butylchloroformate (BuCF), followed by on-line SPME extraction using a PDMS fibre, and analysis by GC-MS. Derivatives of the phenoxy acids mechlorprop (MCPP), dichlorprop (DCPP), MCPA and 2,4-D and their phenol degradation products 4-chloro-2-methylphenol and 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP) were identified. Detection limits at 0.16-2.3 microg/l were achieved. Optimization of derivatization, ion strength, extraction time, SPME-fibre, desorption time and temperature are described. Standard curves in the range 0.5-10.0 microg/l were fitted to a second-degree polynomial. Standard deviation (n = 5) was below 10% for the phenol derivatives, but 20-50% for the phenoxy acids. For method verification groundwater samples from a field experiment were screened for content of MCPP and compared to the results from the HPLC analysis. A good agreement was obtained with respect to identification of positive samples, even though concentrations measured by the SPME were lower than with HPLC. Even if the precision and accuracy do not meet the demands for a strictly quantitative analysis, the SPME method is suitable for screening, because it is cheap, it can be automated, and uses smaller amounts of potential harmful solvents. Also, the method is less labour-intensive, as it requires a minimum of sample preparation when compared to traditional analyses. The acidic pesticides bentazon, dicamba, bromoxynil, ioxynil, dinoseb and DNOC were included in the study but could not be analysed by the current method.  相似文献

Three-dimensional reactive transport simulations were undertaken to study the sorption and degradation dynamics of three herbicides in a shallow aerobic aquifer with spatially variable pH during a 216 days injection experiment. Sorption of two phenoxy acids [(+/-)-2-(4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy) propanoic acid] (MCPP) and [(+/-)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)propanoic acid] (dichlorprop) was found to be negligible. Degradation of the phenoxy acids was rapid after an initial lag phase. Degradation of the phenoxy acids could only be reproduced satisfactorily by growth-linked microbial degradation. The model fit to the field data was slightly improved if degradation was assumed to be influenced by the local pH that was observed to increase with depth ( approximately 4.5--5.7). In the observed pH-range the nitroaromatic herbicide [2-Methyl-4,6-dinitrophenol] (DNOC) was partly dissociated (pK(a)=4.31) and present in both the neutral and ionized form. The model simulations demonstrated that most of the observed spatial variation in sorption of DNOC could be explained by assuming that only the neutral form of DNOC was subject to sorption. A varying flow field was observed during the injection experiment and the model simulations documented that this most likely resulted in different migration paths for DNOC and the non-sorbing solutes. The model simulations indicated that degradation of DNOC was an important process. The degradation rate of DNOC remained constant over time and was simulated adequately by first-order kinetics. Again, the model fit to field observation was slightly improved if local pH was assumed to influence the degradation rate. Only the maximum utilization rate was estimated from the field data, while the remaining degradation parameters where successfully transferred from the laboratory study.  相似文献

The biodegradation of selected priority acidic pesticides MCPP, MCPA, 2,4-D, 2,4-DP and bentazone and the acidic pharmaceutical diclofenac was investigated using a membrane bioreactor (MBR) and a fixed-bed bioreactor (FBBR). A pilot plant MBR was fed with raw water spiked with the selected compounds. The experiment was repeated every week during four weeks to enhance the adaptation of microorganisms. In order to further study the biodegradability of these compounds, degradation studies in a FBBR were carried out. All the samples were analysed by solid phase extraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPE-GC-MS). The results indicate that in the MBR compounds except for bentazone were eliminated within the first day of the experiment at rates ranging from 44% to 85%. Comparing these results with the degradation rates in the FBBR showed that in the latter only MCPP, MCPA 2,4-D and 2,4-DP were degraded after a much longer adaptation phase of microorganisms.  相似文献

This study quantified 2,4-D [(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid] sorption and mineralization rates in five soils as influenced by soil characteristics and nutrient contents. Results indicated that 2.4-D was weakly sorbed by soil, with Freundlich distribution coefficients ranging from 0.81 to 2.89 microg(1 - 1/n) g(-1) mL(1/n). First-order mineralization rate constants varied from 0.03 to 0.26, corresponding to calculated mineralization half-lives of 3 and 22 days, respectively. Herbicide sorption generally increased with increasing soil organic carbon content, but the extent of 2,4-D sorption per unit organic carbon varied among the soils due to differences in soil pH, clay content and/or organic matter quality. Herbicide mineralization rates were greater in soils that sorbed more 2,4-D per unit organic carbon, and that had greater soil nitrogen contents. We conclude that the effect of sorption on herbicide degradation cannot be generalized without a better understanding of the effects of soil characteristics and nutrient content on herbicide behavior in soil.  相似文献

Residues of five pesticides in surface water were surveyed during 2001 and 2003 in the Traiguen river basin in Southern Chile. Simazine, hexazinone, 2,4-D, picloram herbicides and carbendazim fungicide were selected through a pesticide risk classification index. Six sampling stations along the river were set up based on agricultural and forestry land use. The water sampling was carried out before and after the pesticide application periods and in correspondence to some rain events. Pesticides were analyzed by HPLC with DAD detection in a multiresidue analysis. During 2001, in the first sampling campaign (March), the highest concentrations of pesticides were 3.0 microg l(-1) for simazine and hexazinone and 1.8 microg l(-1) for carbendazim. In the second sampling (September), the highest concentration were 9.7 microg l(-1) for 2,4-D, 0.3 microg l(-1) for picloram and 0.4 microg l(-1) for carbendazim. In the last sampling period (December), samples indicated contamination with carbendazim fungicide at levels of up to 1.2 microg l(-1). In sampling carried out on May 2003, no pesticides were detected. In October 2003, the highest concentrations of pesticides were 4.5 microg l(-1) for carbendazim and 2.9 microg l(-1) for 2,4-D. Data are discussed in function of land use and application periods of the products, showing a clear seasonal pattern pollution in the Traiguen river. Risk assessment for these pesticides was calculated by using a risk quotient (RQ = PNEC/PEC). For picloram the calculated RQ < was 0, which indicates that no adverse effects may occur due to the exposure to this herbicide in the Traiguen river basin. For 2,4-D, simazine, hexazinone, carbendazim RQ > 1, meaning that adverse effects could occur and it is necessary to reduce pesticide exposure in surface waters. It is recommended to continue with a pesticide monitoring program and the implementation of ecotoxicological testing with local and standardized species in order to consider the probability of effects occurrence, with less uncertainty. Thus, it will be more feasible to make some recommendations to regulatory agencies regarding the pesticide use.  相似文献

Batch adsorption and desorption experiments were performed using thirteen agricultural soil samples and five pesticides. Experimental data indicated a gradient in pesticide adsorption on soil: trifluralin > 2,4-D > isoproturon> atrazine > bentazone. Atrazine, isoproturon and trifluralin adsorption were correlated to soil organic matter content (r2 = 0.7, 0.82, 0.79 respectively). Conversely, bentazone adsorption was governed by soil pH (r2 = 0.68) while insignificant effect has been shown in the case of 2,4-D. Multiple linear regressions were used to combine relationships between the various soil parameters and the Freundlich adsorption coefficient (K(f)) of each pesticide. Then desorption was assessed since it may reflect some of the interactions involved between the pesticides and the soil components. Adsorbed molecules were released into aqueous solution in the following order: bentazone > atrazine> isoproturon> 2,4-D > trifluralin. The occurrence of hysteresis did not allow an accurate interpretation of the pesticide desorption data because of the possible interplay of several processes.  相似文献

The herbicide 2,4-D [2,4-(dichlorophenoxy) acetic acid] is one of the most widely used pesticides in the Canadian prairies and is frequently detected as a ground and surface water contaminant. The objective of this paper was to determine the magnitude and extent of variation of 2,4-D mineralization in a cultivated undulating prairie landscape. Microcosm incubation experiments, using a 4 x 3 x 2 factorial experimental design (soil moisture, 4 levels: 60, 85, 110, 135% of field capacity; slope position, 3 levels: upper-, mid- and lower-slopes; soil depth, 2 levels: 0-5 and 5-15 cm), were used to assess 2,4-D mineralization. The first-order mineralization rate constant (k(1)) varied from 0.03 to 0.22 day(- 1), while total 2,4-D mineralization varied from 31 to 52%. At near-saturated conditions (110 and 135% of field capacity), the onset of 2,4-D degradation was delayed in soil obtained from the upper- and mid-slopes but not in soils obtained from the lower-slope position. The k(1) and total 2,4-D mineralization was significantly influenced by all three factors and their interactions. The Freundlich sorption coefficient of 2,4-D ranged from 0.83 to 2.46 microg (1-1/n)g(- 1) mL(1/n) and was significantly influenced by variations in soil organic carbon content across slope positions. The infield variability of 2,4-D sorption and mineralization observed across slope positions in this undulating field was comparable in magnitude and extent to the regional variability of 2,4-D sorption and mineralization observed in surface soils across Manitoba. The large variability of 2,4-D mineralization and sorption at different slope positions in this cultivated undulating field suggests that landform segmentation models, which are used to delineate slope positions, are important considerations in pesticide fate studies.  相似文献

The concentrations of selected pesticides, of some of their degradation products and nitrophenols in rain were measured at two stations in Denmark in the period January 2000-July 2001. Forty compounds were quantified at least at one station during at least one sampling period. Additionally 17 compounds could be detected but not quantified, and 22 compounds could not be detected at all. The highest depositions of pesticides were observed for pendimethalin and desethylterbuthylazine, which is a degradation product of terbuthylazine. The deposition of the nitrophenols 2,4-dinitrophenol, DNOC, 3-methyl-4-nitrophenol was much higher than that of pesticides. The deposition of 2,4-dinitrophenol was e.g. up to a factor of 40 higher than that of pendimethalin. Atrazine, chloridazon, 2,4-D, dieldrin, disulfoton, fenitrothion, isoproturon, lenacil, metazachlor and propachlor were found in precipitation, although these pesticides are not allowed in Denmark. It can therefore be concluded that they came from abroad and have been transported over at least 60-80 km. For some of these compounds the transport distance is much longer.  相似文献

This study was undertaken to assess 2,4-D mineralization in an undulating cultivated field, along a sloping transect (458 m to 442 m above sea level), as a function of soil type, soil microbial communities and the sorption of 2,4-D to soil. The 2,4-D soil sorption coefficient (Kd) ranged from 1.81 to 4.28 L kg(-1), the 2,4-D first-order mineralization rate constant (k) ranged from 0.04 to 0.13 day(-1) and the total amount of 2,4-D mineralized at 130 days (M(130)) ranged from 24 to 39%. Both k and M(130) were significantly negatively associated (or correlated) with soil organic carbon content (SOC) and Kd. Both k and M(130) were significantly associated with two fatty-acid methyl esters (FAME), i17:1 and a18, but not with twenty-two other individual FAME. Imperfectly drained soils (Gleyed Dark Grey Chernozems) in lower-slopes showed significantly lesser 2,4-D mineralization relative to well-drained soils (Orthic Dark Grey Chernozems) in mid- and upper-slopes. Well-drained soils had a greater potential for 2,4-D mineralization because of greater abundance and diversity of the microbial community in these soils. However, the reduced 2,4-D mineralization in imperfectly drained soils was predominantly because of their greater SOC and increased 2,4-D sorption, limiting the bioavailability of 2,4-D for degradation. The wide range of 2,4-D sorption and mineralization in this undulating cultivated field is comparable in magnitude and extent to the variability of 2,4-D sorption and mineralization observed at a regional scale in Manitoba. As such, in-field variations in SOC and the abundance and diversity of microbial communities are determining factors that require greater attention in assessing the risk of movement of 2,4-D by runoff, eroded soil and leaching.  相似文献

The sorption behaviour of a new wheat hybridising agent (clofencet, 2-4-(chlorophenyl)-3-ethyl-2,5-dihydro-5-oxopyridazine-4-carboxylic acid) was investigated in batch equilibrium experiments and compared to that of two other organic acids (2,4-D and salicylic acid). Sorption coefficients Kd for the three compounds were determined in 18 Cambisols and Ferralsols. Kd values for clofencet were 0.3-9.4 l/kg for Cambisols and 2.1-68 l/kg for Ferralsols. Sorption of clofencet was strongly related statistically to that of salicylic acid. Sorption of clofencet and salicylic acid decreased exponentially with increasing solution pH in Cambisols whereas a bell-shaped curve was obtained for the sorption of salicylic acid in Ferralsols. Sorption of 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) was not statistically related to the pH of the different soils. Positively charged oxide surfaces were shown to play a significant role in the sorption of clofencet and salicylic acid. The use of simple correlation and multiple linear regressions suggested that the main sorption mechanisms of clofencet in soils were likely to be ligand exchange on oxide surfaces and, to a lesser extent, cation bridging. Differences in the sorption behaviour of clofencet/salicylic acid and 2,4-D might be attributed to the possibility of the two former compounds forming bidentate complexes with metals.  相似文献

Soil column experiments are used to investigate the fate of three pesticides of high, intermediate, and low solubility in groundwater: N- phosphonomethyl glycine (glyphosate); O,O-diethyl-S-[(ethylthio)methyl]phosphorodithioate (phorate); (2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid (2,4-D). Feed solutions are prepared by adding each pesticide (100 mg/L glyphosate, 50 micro g/L phorate, 50 mg/L 2,4-D) along with conservative tracer, KBr, in synthetic groundwater. The concentration of the pesticides in effluents is detected by ion chromatography (glyphosate, 2,4-D) and GC-FID (phorate). The Br(-) breakthrough curves are employed to estimate the dispersion coefficient and mean pore velocity in each column. Solute transport and reactive models accounting for equilibrium/non-equilibrium sorption and biodegradation are coupled with inverse modeling numerical codes to estimate the kinetic parameters for all pesticides.  相似文献

A bench-scale study was conducted to investigate 2,4-D biodegradation rates at different concentrations (10, 100 and 1000 microg per gram of dry weight) in distinct sediments samples collected on the River Ythan, Northeast-Scotland. Mineralisation of 14C 2,4-D occurred mostly within 30 days for all tested concentrations with a degradation rate ranging from 5 to 750 microg d(-1). Biodegradation rates were affected by the biological and biochemical characteristics of the indigenous microbial community in the studied sediments rather than factors such as compound bioavailability and/or toxicity. PLFA-profiling provided evidences of the effect of 2,4-D amendments on the microbial communities and DGGE-profiling showed changes in the genetic potential of the microbial populations which might affect metabolic characteristics of the sediment. PLFAs biomarkers suggested that the pathway of alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase was the main route of 2,4-D biodegradation. This pathway is commonly found in microorganisms of the beta-subdivision of proteobacteria.  相似文献

Biopurification systems treating pesticide contaminated water are very efficient, however they operate as a black box. Processes inside the system are not yet characterized. To optimize the performance, knowledge of degradation and retention processes needs to be generated. Therefore, displacement experiments were carried out for four pesticides (isoproturon, bentazone, metalaxyl, linuron) in columns containing different organic mixtures. Bromide, isoproturon and bentazone breakthrough curves (BTCs) were well described using the convection-dispersion equation (CDE) and a first-order degradation kinetic approach. Metalaxyl and linuron BTCs were well described using the CDE model expanded with Monod-type kinetics. Freundlich sorption, first-order degradation and Monod kinetics coefficients were fitted to the BTCs. Fitted values of the distribution coefficient Kf,column were much lower than those determined from batch experiments. Based on mobility, pesticides were ranked as: bentazone > metalaxyl - isoproturon > linuron. Based on degradability, pesticides were ranked as: linuron > metalaxyl - isoproturon > bentazone.  相似文献

Bioconcentration factors (BCF) for pentachlorophenol (PCP) and 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) in Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) were determined at five different concentrations of the chemicals, between 0.1 and 10 microg/l (PCP), 0.3 and 30 microg/l (2,4-DCP), in the ambient water. Medaka were exposed to each chemicals in a continuous-flow system during the embryonic development period and 60 days after hatching from eggs collected in the laboratory. Both the exposure time and the aqueous concentrations are much more realistic and closer to natural aquatic environments than those used in conventional BCF studies. The BCF values of PCP were from (4.9+/-2.8)x10(3) at the aqueous concentration of 0.074+/-0.028 microg/l to (2.1+/-1.4)x10(3) at 9.70+/-0.56 microg/l. The BCF value of 2,4-DCP were from (3.4+/-3.0)x10(2) at 0.235+/-0.060 microg/l to 92+/-27 at 27.3+/-1.6 microg/l. Generally, BCF values increased as the aqueous concentrations of PCP or 2,4-DCP decreased. This finding suggests that a relatively low and realistic aqueous concentration of these compounds is necessary to more accurately determine their BCF values in natural aquatic environments. Conventional BCF experiments at higher aqueous concentrations may underestimate the BCF values.  相似文献

Ninety strains of fungi from the collection of our mycology laboratory were tested in Galzy and Slonimski (GS) synthetic liquid medium for their ability to degrade the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and its by-product, 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) at 100 mg l(-1), each. Evolution of the amounts of each chemical in the culture media was monitored by HPLC. After 5 days of cultivation, the best results were obtained with Aspergillus penicilloides and Mortierella isabellina for 2,4-D and with Chrysosporium pannorum and Mucor genevensis for 2,4-DCP. The data collected seemed to prove, on one hand, that the strains responses varied with the taxonomic groups and the chemicals tested, and, on the other hand, that 2,4-D was less accessible to fungal degradation than 2,4-DCP. In each case, kinetics studies with the two most efficient strains revealed that there was a lag phase of 1 day before the onset of 2,4-D degradation, whereas there was none during 2,4-DCP degradation. Moreover, 2,4-DCP was detected transiently during 2,4-D degradation. Finally, M. isabellina improved its degradation potential in Tartaric Acid (TA) medium relative to GS and Malt Extract (ME) media.  相似文献

From 1995 to 1998 the concentrations of 4-nitrophenol, 2-methyl-4-nitrophenol, 3-methyl-4-nitrophenol, dinitro-ortho-cresol (DNOC) and 2,4-di-nitrophenol were measured monthly by HPLC in precipitation at eight different locations in Bavaria (Germany). Samples were collected by purpose-constructed computerised rainwater samplers which record electronically various sensor data each hour and adjust the sample temperature to 4 degrees C. The highest nitrophenol (NP) concentrations were measured for 4-NP. The median at all locations is higher than 1 microg/l. The median of the other NPs ranges between 0.2 and 0.8 microg/l. Considering the rain amounts the highest depositions were calculated for the regions Spessart, Bayerischer Wald and Chiemgauer Alpen. The median of 4-NP depositions extents to 200 microg/(month m2). The highest medians of the other NP depositions reach approximately 50 microg/(month m2).  相似文献

Abstract

This study quantified 2,4-D [(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid] sorption and mineralization rates in five soils as influenced by soil characteristics and nutrient contents. Results indicated that 2,4-D was weakly sorbed by soil, with Freundlich distribution coefficients ranging from 0.81 to 2.89 µg1?1/n  g?1 mL1/ n . 相似文献
