Abstract

Carpobrotus dimidiatus is an indigenous South African medicinal plant species from the Aizoaceae family that bears edible fruit that is consumed for nutritional value. In this study, the elemental distribution in C. dimidiatus fruit and growth soil from fifteen sites in KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) was determined along with soil pH, soil organic matter and cation exchange capacity, to assess for nutritional value and the effect of soil quality on elemental uptake. The results showed elemental concentrations in fruit to be in decreasing order of Ca (6235–32755?mg kg?1) > Mg (2250–5262?mg kg?1) > Fe?>?Mn?>?Zn (20.9–50.6?mg kg?1) > Cu (3.83–20.6?mg kg?1) > Pb?>?Cr?>?Cd?>?As?~?Co?~?Ni?~?Se and no potential health risk due to metal toxicity from average consumption. For sites that had high levels of Cd and Pb, bioaccumulation occurred from atmospheric deposition. Concentrations of elements in soil were found to be in decreasing order of Fe (1059–63747?mg kg?1) > Ca (1048–41475?mg kg?1) > Mg?>?Mn (9.76–174?mg kg?1) > Cr (1.55–135?mg kg?1) > Zn (0.76–58.2?mg kg?1) > Se?>?Cu?>?Ni?>?Pb?>?Co?>?As?~?Cd with no evidence of heavy metal contamination. This study revealed that the plant inherently controlled uptake of essential elements according to physiological needs and that the concentrations of essential elements in the fruit could contribute positively to the diet.  相似文献

Sewage sludge addition to agricultural lands requires judicious management to avoid environmental risks arising from heavy metal and nitrate contamination of surface water and accumulation in edible plants. A field study was conducted on a silty-loam soil of 10% slope at Kentucky State University Research Farm. Eighteen plots of 22 × 3.7 m each were separated using metal borders and the soil in six plots was mixed with sewage sludge and yard waste compost mix (SS-YW) at 15 t acre?1, six plots were mixed with sewage sludge (SS) at 15 t acre?1, and six unamended plots that never received sludge were used for comparison purposes. Plots were planted with eggplant, Solanum melongena L. as the test plant. The objectives of this investigation were to: 1) assess the effect of soil amendments on the transport of NO3, NH4, and heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Ni, Pb, Zn, Cu, and Mo) into surface water; 2) investigate the effect of soil amendments on heavy metal bioavailability in eggplant fruits at harvest; and 3) assess chemical and physical properties of soil following addition of soil amendments and their impact on the yield and quality of eggplant fruit. SS-YW treatments reduced runoff water by 63% while plots incorporated with sewage sludge alone reduced runoff water by 37% compared to control treatment. The SS-YW treatments transported more mineral nitrogen (NO3-N and NH4-N) in runoff water than SS treatments. Total marketable yield (lbs acre?1) and number of eggplant fruits were greatest in SS-YW treatments. This response may be due to improved soil porosity, water, and nutrient retention of the soil amended with SS-YW mixture. Concentrations of heavy metals in soil amended with sludge were below the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) limits. Chromium, Ni, Zn, and Cu were taken up by eggplant fruits but their concentrations were below the Codex Commission allowable levels.  相似文献

This investigation was undertaken to compare the dissipation pattern of flubendiamide in capsicum fruits under poly-house and open field after giving spray applications at the recommended and double doses of 48 g a.i. ha?1 and 96 g a.i. ha?1. Extraction and purification of capsicum fruit samples were carried out by the QuEChERS method. Residues of flubendiamide and its metabolite, des-iodo flubendiamide, were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography–photodiode array, and confirmed by liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry. Limit of quantification of the method was 0.05 mg kg?1, and recovery of the insecticides was in the range of 89.6–104.3%, with relative standard deviation being 4.5–11.5%. The measurement uncertainty of the analytical method was in the range of 10.7–15.7%. Initial residue deposits of flubendiamide on capsicum fruits grown under poly-house conditions were (0.977 and 1.834 mg kg?1) higher than that grown in the field (0.665 and 1.545 mg kg?1). Flubendiamide residues persisted for 15 days in field-grown and for 25 days in poly-house-grown capsicum fruits. The residues were degraded with the half-lives of 4.3–4.7 and 5.6–6.6 days in field and poly-house respectively. Des-iodo flubendiamide was not detected in capsicum fruits or soil. The residues of flubendiamide degraded to below the maximum residue limit notified by Codex Alimentarius Commission (FAO/WHO) after 1 and 6 days in open field, and 3 and 10 days in poly-house. The results of the study indicated that flubendiamide applied to capsicum under controlled environmental conditions required longer pre-harvest interval to allow its residues to dissipate to the safe level.  相似文献

Dissipation of spiromesifen and its metabolite, spiromesifen-enol, on tomato fruit, tomato leaf, and soil was studied in the open field and controlled environmental conditions. Sample preparation was carried out by QuEChERS method and analysis using LC-MS/MS. Method validation for analysis of the compounds was carried out as per “single laboratory method validation guidelines.” Method validation studies gave satisfactory recoveries for spiromesifen and spiromesifen-enol (71.59–105.3%) with relative standard deviation (RSD) < 20%. LOD and LOQ of the method were 0.0015 μg mL?1 and 0.005 mg kg?1, respectively. Spiromesifen residues on tomato fruits were 0.855 and 1.545 mg kg?1 in open field and 0.976 and 1.670 mg kg?1 under polyhouse condition, from treatments at the standard and double doses of 125 and 250 g a.i. ha?1, respectively. On tomato leaves, the residues were 5.64 and 8.226 mg kg?1 in open field and 6.874 and 10.187 mg kg?1 in the polyhouse. In soil, the residues were 0.532 and 1.032 mg kg?1 and 0.486 and 0.925 mg kg?1 under open field and polyhouse conditions, respectively. The half-life of degradation of spiromesifen on tomato fruit was 6–6.5 days in the open field and 8.1–9.3 days in the polyhouse. On tomato leaves, it was 7–7.6 and 17.6–18.4 days and in soil 5.6–7.4 and 8.4–9.5 days, respectively. Metabolite, spiromesifen-enol, was not detected in any of the sample throughout the study period. Photodegradation could be the major route for dissipation of spiromesifen in the tomato leaves, whereas in the fruits, it may be the combination of photodegradation and dilution due to fruit growth. The results of the study can be utilized for application of spiromesifen in plant protection of tomato crop under protected environmental conditions.  相似文献

Heavy metal distribution in medicinal plants is gaining importance not only as an alternative medicine, but also for possible concern due to effects of metal toxicity. The present study has been focused on emphasizing the heavy metal status and bioaccumulation factors of V, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn, Se (essential metals) and Cr, Ni, Cd, As and Pb (potentially toxic metals) in medicinal plants grown under two different environmental conditions e.g., near to Khetri copper mine and those in fertile soils of Haridwar, both in India, using Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (relative method) and Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. The copper levels in the medicinal plants from Khetri were found to be 3-4 folds higher (31.6–76.5 mg kg?1) than those from Haridwar samples (7.40–15.3 mg kg?1), which is correlated with very high copper levels (763 mg kg?1) in Khetri soil. Among various heavy metals, Cr (2.60–5.92 mg kg?1), Cd (1.47–2.97 mg kg?1) and Pb (3.97–6.63 mg kg?1) are also higher in concentration in the medicinal plants from Khetri. The essential metals like Mn (36.4–69.3 mg kg?1), Fe (192–601 mg kg?1), Zn (24.9–49.9 mg kg?1) and Se (0.13–0.91 mg kg?1) and potentially toxic metals like Ni (3.09–9.01 mg kg?1) and As (0.41–2.09 mg kg?1) did not show much variations in concentration in the medicinal plants from both Khetri and Haridwar. The medicinal plants from Khetri, e.g., Ocimum sanctum, Cassia fistula, Withania somnifera and Azadirachta Indica were found rich in Ca and Mg contents while Aloe barbadensis showed moderately high Ca and Mg. Higher levels of Ca-Mg were found to correlate with Zn (except Azadirachta Indica). The bioaccumulation factors (BAFS) of the heavy metals were estimated to understand the soil-to-plant transfer pattern of the heavy metals. Significantly lower BAF values of Cu and Cr were found in the medicinal plants from Khetri, indicating majority fraction of these metals are precipitated and were immobilized species unsuitable for plant uptake. Overall, Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) showed very high metal bioaccumulation.  相似文献

Leccinum scabrum is an edible mushroom common in European regions in the northern hemisphere. Macro and trace mineral constituents such as Ag, Al, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Pb, P, Rb, Sr and Zn were studied in L. scabrum and in the top soil collected from the same location underneath soil substratum. The “pseudo-total” and labile (extractable fraction of minerals) were measured to get insight into the levels, distribution between the morphological parts of fruiting bodies, potential for their bioconcentration by mushroom and evaluated for human exposure via consumption of the mushroom. The sampling sites include the Dar?lubska Wilderness, Trójmiejski Landscape Park, Sobieszewo Island, Wdzydze Landscape Park and outskirts of the K?trzyn town in Mazury from the norther part of Poland. Median values of K, Rb and P concentrations in dehydrated L. scabrum were for caps in range 27,000–44,000 mg kg?1, 90–320 mg kg?1 and 6,200–9,100 mg kg?1, and followed by Mg at 880–1,000 mg kg?1, Ca at 48–210 mg kg?1 and Al at 15–120 mg kg?1. The median concentrations of Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn in caps were in range 15–27 mg kg?1 db 38–140 mg kg?1, 5.3–27 mg kg?1 and 130–270 mg kg?1. For Ba and Sr, concentrations on the average were at ~1 mg kg?1, and almost equally distributed between the caps and stipes of the fruiting bodies. L. scabrum mushrooms were low in toxic Ag, Cd, Hg and Pb, for which the median values in dried caps from five locations were, respectively, in range 0.48–0.98 mg kg?1 (cap to stipe index, QC/S, was 2.5–4.1), 1.0–5.8 mg kg?1 (QC/S 2.9–3.8), 0.36–0.59 mg kg?1 (QC/S 1.6–2.7) and 0.20–0.91 mg kg?1 (QC/S 1.2–1.9). Substantial variations in the concentrations of the “pseudo-total” fraction (extracted by aqua regia) or labile fraction (extracted by 20% solution of nitric acid) of the elements determined in forest topsoils were noted between some of the locations examined. The elements K, P, Cd, Cu, Hg, Mn, Na, Rb and Zn can be considered as those which were bioconcentrated by L. scabrum in fruiting bodies, while the rates of accumulation varied with the sampling location.  相似文献

Flubendiamide is a new insecticide that has been found to give excellent control of lepidopterous pests of tomato. This study has been undertaken to develop an improved method for analysis of flubendiamide and its metabolite des-iodo flubendiamide and determine residue retention in tomato and soil. The analytical method developed involved extraction of flubendiamide and its metabolite des-iodo flubendiamide with acetonitrile, liquid-liquid partitioning into hexane-ethyl acetate mixture (6:4, v v?1) and cleanup with activated neutral alumina. Finally the residues were dissolved in gradient high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) grade acetonitrile for analysis by HPLC. The mobile phase, acetonitrile-water at 60:40 (v v?1) proportion and the wavelength of 235 nm gave maximum peak resolution. Using the above method and HPLC parameters described, nearly 100 % recovery of both insecticides were obtained. There was no matrix interference and the limit of quantification (LOQ) of the method was 0.01 mg kg?1. Initial residue deposits of flubendiamide on field-treated tomato from treatments @ 48 and 96 g active ingredient hectare?1 were 0.83 and 1.68 mg kg?1,respectively. The residues of flubendiamide dissipated at the half-life of 3.9 and 4.4 days from treatments @ 48 and 96 g a.i. ha?1, respectively and persisted for 15 days from both the treatments. Des-iodo flubendiamide was not detected in tomato fruits at any time during the study period. Residues of flubendiamide and des-iodo flubendiamide in soil from treatment @ 48 and 96 g a.i. ha?1 were below detectable level (BDL, < 0.01 mg kg?1) after 20 days. Flubendiamide completely dissipated from tomato within 20 days when the 480 SC formulation was applied at doses recommended for protection against lepidopterous pests.  相似文献

Activated charcoal (AC) amendments have been suggested as a promising, cost-effective method to immobilize organic contaminants in soil. We performed pot experiments over two years with cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) grown in agricultural soil with 0.07 mg kg?1 of weathered dieldrin and 0, 200, 400, and 800 mg AC per kg soil. Dieldrin fresh weight concentrations in cucumber fruits were significantly reduced from 0.012 to an average of 0.004 mg kg?1, and total uptake from 2 to 1 μg in the 800 mg kg?1 AC treatment compared to the untreated soil. The treatment effects differed considerably between the two years, due to different meteorological conditions. AC soil treatments did neither affect the availability of nutrients to the cucumber plants nor their yield (total fruit wet weight per pot). Thus, some important prerequisites for the successful application of AC amendments to immobilize organic pollutants in agricultural soils can be considered fulfilled.  相似文献

The fate of carbosulfan (seed treatment dry powder) was studied in rice field ecosystem, and a simple and reliable analytical method was developed for determination of carbosulfan, carbofuran, and 3-hydroxyl carbofuran in brown rice, rice straw, paddy water, and soil. The target compounds were extracted using acetonitrile or dichloromethane, cleaned up on acidic alumina or florisil solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridge, and analyzed by gas chromatography. The average recoveries of carbosulfan, carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran in brown rice, rice straw, paddy water, and soil ranged from 72.71% to 105.07%, with relative standard deviations of 2.00–8.80%. The limits of quantitation (LOQs) of carbosulfan, carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran in the samples (brown rice, rice straw, paddy water and soil) were 0.011, 0.0091, 0.014, 0.010 mg kg?1, 0.016, 0.019, 0.025, 0.013 mg kg?1, and 0.031, 0.039, 0.035, 0.036 mg kg?1, respectively. The trials results showed that the half-lives of carbosulfan, carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran in rice straw were 4.0, 2.6 days, 3.9, 6.0 days, and 5.8, 7.0 days in Zhejiang and Hunan, respectively. Carbosulfan, carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran were detected in soils. Carbosulfan and 3-hydroxy carbofuran were almost undetectable in paddy water. Carbofuran was detected in paddy water. The final residues of carbosulfan, carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran in brown rice were lower than 0.05 mg kg?1, which were lower than 0.5 mg kg?1 (MRL of carbosulfan) or 0.1 mg kg?1 (MRL of carbofuran). Therefore, a dosage of 420 g active ingredient per 100 kg seed was recommended, which could be considered as safe to human beings and animals. These would contribute to provide the scientific basis of using this insecticide.  相似文献

To assess the exposure of avian species in Jiangsu Province, China to eight heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb and Zn), the flight feathers, eggshells and feces of total ten avian species (including four herons, four cranes, one stork and one gull) were collected during March to May in 2012. The total concentrations of As, Cd and Hg were measured by Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometer; Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn were measured by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer. The determined concentrations of Cr (3.94, 1.33–8.30 mg kg?1), Cu (15.02, 7.34–35.53 mg kg?1) and Zn (134.66, 77.26–242.25 mg kg?1) in fresh feathers and Cd (7.93, 7.44–9.12 mg kg?1), Ni (22.74, 19.38–24.71 mg kg?1), Pb (85.06, 78.72–91.95 mg kg?1) and Zn (63.54, 55.82–72.14 mg kg?1) in eggshells were higher than the mean values of other reported data, indicating a considerable heavy metal pollution status in local area. Comparing to the heavy metal levels in early historic feathers (1992–2000), a significant elevation of concentrations has been observed in recent bird feathers. For feathers of Grus japonensis, the heavy metal concentrations increased by 19–267%. This increased tendency was consistent with local GDP (Gross Domestic Products) development. The anthropogenic economic activity especially industrial development may be a critical reason that caused the increase of heavy metal levels in local avian species.  相似文献

Zea mays (L.) is a crop widely cultivated throughout the world and can be considered suitable for phytomanagement due to its metal resistance and energetic value. In this study, the effect of two plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria, Ralstonia eutropha and Chryseobacterium humi, on growth and metal uptake of Z. mays plants in soils contaminated with up to 30 mg Cd kg?1 was evaluated. Bacterial inoculation increased plant biomass up to 63 % and led to a decrease of up to 81 % in Cd shoot levels (4–88 mg Cd kg?1) and to an increase of up to 186 % in accumulation in the roots (52–134 mg Cd kg?1). The rhizosphere community structure changed throughout the experiment and varied with different levels of Cd soil contamination, as revealed by molecular biology techniques. Z. mays plants inoculated with either of the tested strains may have potential application in a strategy of soil remediation, in particular short-term phytostabilization, coupled with biomass production for energy purposes.  相似文献

Using low-accumulative plant, especially excluder crop, to safely produce food is one of the very important technologies of phytoremediation, which is practical to safe production and long-term remediation of heavy metal-contaminated soil. A pot experiment using field cadmium (Cd)-contaminated soil (Cd concentration was 0.75 mg?kg?1) was conducted to compare Cd accumulation differences among 39 normal rice cultivars (Japonica) in Shenyang region of China for food safety and high grain yield aim. The results showed that brown grain Cd concentration in 12 rice cultivars of a total of 39 tested cultivars was lower than 0.2 mg?kg?1 (Agricultural Trade Standard of Nonpollution Food for Rice of China, NY 5115–2008). In these 12 cultivars, Cd enrichment factors (Cd concentration ratio in shoot to that in soil) of nine cultivars were lower than 1. Likewise, Cd translocation factors (Cd concentration ratio in shoot to that in root) of eight cultivars were lower than the 0.28 average. Furthermore, grain yield per pot of seven cultivars were higher than the average 18.4 g?pot?1. Four cultivars, i.e., Shendao 5, Tianfu 1, Fuhe 90, and Yanfeng 47 showed Cd-exclusive characteristic and better foreground application.  相似文献

This study examined the mercury concentration in the Grisette Amanita vaginata Fr. and soil below the fruiting bodies collected between 2000 and 2008 from the wild at seven distant sites across Poland. The Hg content in samples was determined by cold atomic absorption method (CV-AAS) at a wavelength of 253.7 nm. Mean Hg contents varied from 0.096 ± 0.052 to 0.48 ± 0.13 mg kg?1 dry matter (dm) in caps (range, 0.043–0.73 mg kg?1), from 0.047 ± 0.02 to 0.23 ± 0.07 mg kg?1 dm (range, 0.028–0.47 mg kg?1) in stipes, and in underlying soil were from 0.035 ± 0.018 to 0.096 ± 0.036 mg kg?1 dm (range, 0.017 to 0.16 mg kg?1). The median Qc/s values ranged from 1.2 to 2.2 (mean 1.2 ± 0.4 to 2.1 ± 0.5) indicating that Hg content in stipes was generally lower than in caps. This mushroom species has some potential to bioconcentrate Hg in the fruiting bodies, as the values of the bioconcentration factor (BCF) varied for the sites between 1.2 ± 0.6 to 11 ± 5 for caps and 0.61 ± 0.26 to 7.4 ± 3.9 for stipes. Also available literature data on Hg in A. vaginata are reviewed and discussed.  相似文献

To study the dissipation rates and final residual levels of chlorantraniliprole and thiamethoxam in maize straw, maize, and soil, two independent field trials were conducted during the 2014 cropping season in Beijing and Anhui Provinces of China. A 40% wettable powder (20% chlorantraniliprole?+?20% thiamethoxam) was sprayed onto maize straw and soil at an application rate of 118 g of active ingredient per hectare (g a.i.ha?1). The residual concentrations were determined by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry. The chlorantraniliprole half-lives in maize straw and soil were 9.0–10.8 and 9.5–21.7 days, respectively. The thiamethoxam half-lives in maize straw and soil were 8.4–9.8 and 4.3–11.7 days, respectively. The final residues of chlorantraniliprole and thiamethoxam in maize straw, maize, and soil were measured after the pesticides had been sprayed two and three times with an interval of 7 days using 1 and 1.5 times the recommended rate (72 g a.i. ha?1 and 108 g a.i. ha?1, respectively). Representative maize straw, maize, and soil samples were collected after the last treatment at pre-harvest intervals of 7, 14, and 28 days. The chlorantraniliprole residue was below 0.01 mg kg?1 in maize, between 0.01 and 0.31 mg kg?1 in maize straw, and between 0.03 and 1.91 mg kg?1 in soil. The thiamethoxam residue concentrations in maize, maize straw, and soil were <0.01, <0.01, and 0.01–0.03 mg kg?1, respectively. The final pesticide residues on maize were lower than the maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.02 mg kg?1 after a 14-day pre-harvest interval. Therefore, a dosage of 72 g a.i. ha?1 was recommended, as it can be considered safe to human beings and animals.  相似文献

A modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChERS) method was developed for the determination of thiamethoxam and its metabolite clothianidin in citrus (including the whole citrus, peel and pulp) and soil samples by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The sample was extracted with acetonitrile and purified with octadecylsilane. The detection limits of both compounds were 0.0001–0.0002?mg kg–1, while the limit of quantification of thiamethoxam was 0.002?mg kg–1 and the limit of quantitation of metabolites was 0.001?mg kg–1. The recovery was 70.37%–109.76%, with inter-day relative standard deviations (RSD) (n?=?15) values ≤9.46% for the two compounds in the four matrices. The degradation curve of thiamethoxam in whole citrus and soil was plotted using the first-order kinetic model. The half-life of the whole citrus was 1.9–6.2?days, and the half-life of the soil was 3.9–4.2?days. The terminal residue of thiamethoxam (the sum of thiamethoxam and clothianidin, expressed as thiamethoxam) was found to be concentrated on the peel. The final residual amount of thiamethoxam in the edible portion (pulp) was less than 0.061?mg kg–1. The risk quotient values were all below 1, indicating that thiamethoxam as a citrus insecticide does not pose a health risk to humans at the recommended dosage.  相似文献

The mushroom Macrocybe gigantea collected from the native stands in the Yunnan Province of China can be considered a species that efficiently bioconcentrates mercury (Hg) because the values of the bioconcentration factor (BCF) calculated for this element were well above unity, i.e., for caps, the BCF ranged from 4.8 to 24 and, for stipes, from 3.6 to 18. The Hg content of the composite samples of caps of the fruit bodies collected in the wild ranged from 0.48 to 1.78 mg kg?1 dry matter and of stipes from 0.36 to 1.70 mg kg?1 dry matter, whereas 0.37 and 0.25 mg kg?1 dry matter were observed for farmed specimens. M. gigantea, because of a large biomass of the fruit bodies that emerge in a cluster, is an important food item in Yunnan, but knowledge on mineral composition and content of this species is largely absent. This study estimated the lifetime average daily dose intake of Hg through mushroom as well as the incremental lifetime cancer risk and non-cancer health hazard to consumers of this mushroom.  相似文献

The main objective of this investigation was to evaluate fruits of C. chinense accessions for their concentration of β -carotene, ascorbic acid, and phenols for use as parents in breeding for these phytochemicals. Mature fruits of 63 accessions of C. chinense originally acquired from Belize, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, and the United States were analyzed for their chemical composition. Fruits of C. chinense accessions PI-152452 (Brazil) and PI-360726 (Ecuador) contained the greatest concentrations of ascorbic acid (1.2 and 1.1 mg g?1 fresh fruit, respectively), while PI-438648 (Mexico) contained the greatest concentration of total phenols content (349 μ g g?1 fresh fruit) among the other 63 accessions tested. Accession PI-355817 from Ecuador contained the greatest concentrations of β -carotene (8 mg g?1fresh fruit). These accessions were identified as potential candidates for mass production of antioxidants with health-promoting properties.  相似文献

The correlations among arsenic (As) accumulation in grains and straw, rates of radial oxygen loss (ROL), and porosity of roots using 25 rice cultivars were investigated based on two pot experiments: (1) soil with addition of 100 mg As kg?1 for analysis of As in grains and straw, and (2) deoxygenated solution for analyzing rates of ROL and porosity of roots. The results showed that there were great differences in grain As (0.71–1.72 mg kg?1) and straw As (15.6–31.7 mg kg?1), rates of ROL (7.40–13.24 mmol O2 kg?1 root d.w. h?1), and porosity (20.91–33.08%) among the cultivars. There were significant negative correlations between As in grains or straw and ROL and porosity, and significant positive correlations between rates of ROL and porosities, respectively. Rice cultivars with high porosities tended to possess higher rates of ROL, and had higher capacities for limiting the transfer of As to aboveground tissues.  相似文献

The spatial distribution of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) was examined in soils surrounding the Tanggu Chemical Industrial District in Tianjin, China. The concentrations of hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs), dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDTs), hexachlorobenzenes (HCBs), and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were determined in 70 surface soils using accelerated solvent extraction and gas chromatography with electron capture detection. The results showed that the ranges of ∑HCH, ∑DDT, ΣHCB, and ∑PCB concentrations in soils were 2.1–12,549 μg?kg?1 (average, 965 μg?kg?1), n.d.–2,033 μg?kg?1 (average, 88.4 μg?kg?1), n.d.–1,924 μg?kg?1 (average, 349 μg?kg?1), and n.d.–373 μg?kg?1 (average, 46.2 μg?kg?1), respectively. Of these, HCHs were the dominant POPs, accounting for 75 % of the total organochlorine pesticide (OCP) residues. Overall, the spatial distribution of OCP concentrations showed a decreasing trend from the center of the Tanggu District to the surrounding areas. Two major pollution sources were Tianjin Dagu Chemical Co., Ltd. in the district center and the Tianjin Chemical Plant in Hangu District. In contrast, PCB concentrations were relatively high in the Haihe estuary to the east and low to the west of the study area. Component analysis of OCPs in these soils showed that they mainly came from industrial point sources. Compared with soils in other regions, soil DDT pollution was at a medium level in the Tanggu Chemical Industrial District, but associated HCH, HCB, and PCB pollution was relatively heavy. By multivariate statistical analyses, Tianjin Dagu Chemical Co., Ltd. was recognized as the main source of POPs, and soil properties were clarified to play an important role on the distribution and composition of POPs, especially the organic carbon content.  相似文献

A greenhouse experiment was carried out to investigate the single effect of benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) or chromium (Cr) and the joint effect of Cr–B[a]P on the growth of Zea mays, its uptake and accumulation of Cr, and the dissipation of B[a]P over 60 days. Results showed that single or joint contamination of Cr and B[a]P did not affect the plant growth relative to control treatments. However, the occurrence of B[a]P had an enhancing effect on the accumulation and translocation of Cr. The accumulation of Cr in shoot of plant significantly increased by?≥?79 % in 50 mg kg?1 Cr–B[a]P (1, 5, and 10 mg kg?1) treatments and by?≥?86 % in 100 mg kg?1 Cr–B[a]P (1, 5, and 10 mg kg?1) treatments relative to control treatments. The presence of plants did not enhance the dissipation of B[a]P in lower (1and 5 mg kg?1) B[a]P contaminated soils; however, over 60 days of planting Z. mays seemed to enhance the dissipation of B[a]P by over 60 % in 10 mg kg?1 single contaminated soil and by 28 to 41 % in 10 mg kg?1B[a]P co-contaminated soil. This suggests that Z. mays might be a useful plant for the remediation of Cr–B[a]P co-contaminated soil.  相似文献
