Atlantic cod, Gadus morhua, were exposed to a progressive stepwise decline in water oxygen pressure Fish swimming speed and indicators of primary and secondary stress (e.g. blood cortisol and lactate) were measured to assess whether a severe shift in physiological homeostasis (i.e. stress) preceded any change in behaviour or vice versa. Swimming speed increased by 18% when was reduced rapidly from 19.9 kPa to 13.2 kPa and was interpreted as an initial avoidance response. However, swimming speed was reduced by 21% at a moderate level of steady (8.4 kPa) and continued to drop by 41% under progressively deep hypoxia (4.3 kPa). Elevations in plasma cortisol and blood lactate indicated major physiological stress but only at 4.3 kPa, which corresponds to the critical oxygen tension of this species. We propose that the drop in speed during hypoxia aids to offset major stress and is adaptive for the survival of cod in extensive areas of low oxygen.  相似文献

A pot experiment was conducted to examine the influence of potassium (K) fertilizer (K2SO4) application on the phytoavailability and speciation distribution of cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) in soil. Spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was selected as the test plant. There were seven treatments including single and combined contamination of Cd and Pb. CdCl2·2.5 H2O and Pb(NO3)2 were added to the soil at the following dosages: Cd + Pb = 0.00 + 0.00, 5.00 + 0.00, 25.0 + 0.00, 0.00 + 500, 0.00 + 1000, 5.00 + 500 and 25.0 + 1000 mg kg−1, denoted by CK, T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 and T6, respectively. The K fertilizer had five levels: 0.00, 50.0, 100, 200 and 400 mg K2O kg−1 soil, denoted by K0, K1, K2, K3 and K4, respectively. The results showed that the K fertilizer promoted the dry weight (DW) of wheat in all treatments and alleviated the contamination by Cd and Pb. The application of K2SO4 reduced the uptake of Cd in different parts including roots, haulms and grains of wheat; the optimum dosage was the K2 level. K supply resulted in a significant (P < 0.05) decrease in the soluble plus exchangeable (SE) fraction of Cd and there was a negative correlation (not significant, P > 0.05) between the levels of K and the SE fraction of Cd in soil. The application of the K fertilizer could obviously restrain the uptake of Pb by wheat and there were significant (P < 0.05) negative correlations between the concentrations of Pb in grains and the levels of K in soil. K supply resulted in a decrease in the SE fraction of Pb (except the K1 level) from the K0 to K4 levels. At the same time, the application of the K fertilizer induced a significant (P < 0.05) decrease in the weakly specifically adsorbed (WSA) fraction of Pb and a significant (P < 0.05) increase in the bound to Fe–Mn oxides (OX) fraction of Pb. At different K levels, the concentration of Pb in the roots, haulms and grains had a positive correlation with the SE (not significant, P > 0.05) and WSA (significant, P < 0.05) fractions of Pb in the soil. All the K application levels in this experiment reduced the phytoavailability of Cd and Pb. Thus, it is feasible to apply K fertilizer (K2SO4) to alleviate contamination by Cd and/or Pb in soil. Moreover, the level of K application should be considered to obtain an optimal effect with the minimum dosage.  相似文献

Although both chronic and episodic hypoxia (O2<2 mg l–1) alter the distribution and abundance patterns of mobile animals within estuaries, recent evidence suggests that some animals may be more likely to remain within hypoxic or anoxic water than others, due to differences in physiological tolerance and movement responses to the dynamics of hypoxia. Determining avoidance responses to hypoxia is important for identifying the species most susceptible to the direct and indirect impacts of these events. A trawl survey was used to examine the avoidance responses of blue crabs (Callinectes sapidus) and several fish [pinfish (Lagodon rhomboides), spot (Leiostomus xanthurus), Atlantic croaker (Micropogonias undulatus), bay anchovy (Anchoa mitchilli), and paralichthid flounders (Paralichthys dentatus and Paralichthys lethostigma)] to chronic hypoxia and episodic hypoxic upwelling events in the Neuse River Estuary, North Carolina, USA. Trawl collections were made in three depth strata (3.0–4.6 m, 1.7–3.0 m, and 0.9–1.7 m depth) to quantify changes in the depth-specific distribution and abundance patterns of the six most common estuarine taxa during three dissolved oxygen conditions: normoxia, chronic hypoxia, and episodic hypoxic upwelling events. Pinfish, anchovies, blue crabs, and paralichthid flounder abundance increased with increasing dissolved oxygen concentrations. The two taxa most closely associated with the bottom (blue crabs and flounder) showed the strongest avoidance response to hypoxia. All taxa showed a stronger avoidance response to chronic hypoxia as compared to episodic hypoxic upwelling events. This difference is attributed to a reduced ability to avoid the rapid intrusions of hypoxic water during episodic events, or to increased risks of injury and predation in shallow refuge habitats, which may force some individuals back into hypoxic water.Communicated by J.P. Flathead grey mullets Mugil cephalus are commonly found in Mediterranean lagoons, which are regularly subject to high environmental variations. Oxygen is one of the factors that shows extremely high variation. The objective of this study was to test the effects of acute hypoxia exposure at two experimental temperatures (i.e. 20 and 30°C) on the stamina (time to fatigue) in M. cephalus swimming at the minimal cost of transport (i.e. optimal swimming speed; U opt). At each temperature, a relationship was established between swimming speed and oxygen consumption (MO2). This allowed estimation of U opt at 45 cm s−1 (~1.12 Body Length s−1). Independent of temperature, stamina at U opt was significantly reduced in severe hypoxia, i.e. at 15% of air saturation (AS). In these conditions, oxygen supply appears therefore to be insufficient to maintain swimming, even at the low speed tested here. After the stamina test, MO2 measured in fish tested at 15% AS was significantly higher than that measured after the test in normoxia. Therefore, we suggest that in hypoxia, fish used anaerobic metabolism to supplement swimming at U opt, leading to an oxygen debt. Since flathead grey mullet is a hypoxia-tolerant species, it is possible that hypoxic conditions less severe than those tested here may reduce stamina at low speed in less tolerant species. In addition, we suggest that testing stamina at these speeds may be relevant in order to understand the effect of hypoxia on behavioural activities carried out at low speed, such as food searching.  相似文献

Photocatalytic oxidation using semiconductors is one of the advanced oxidation processes for degradation of organic pollutants in water and air. TiO2 is an excellent photocatalyst that can mineralize a large range of organic pollutants such as pesticides and dyes. The main challenge is to improve the efficiency of the TiO2 photocatalyst and to extend TiO2 light absorption spectra to the visible region. A potential solution is to couple TiO2 with a narrow band gap semiconductor possessing a higher conduction band such as bismuth oxide. Therefore, here we prepared Bi2O3/TiO2 heterojunctions by the impregnation method with different Bi/Ti ratio. The prepared composites have been characterized by UV–Vis diffused reflectance spectra and X-ray diffraction. The photocatalytic activity of the heterojunction has been determined from the degradation of orange II under visible and UV light. Results show that Bi2O3/TiO2 heterojunctions are more effective than pure TiO2-anatase under UV-A irradiation, with an optimum for the Bi/Ti ratio of 5 %, for the photocatalytic degradation of Orange II. However, the photocatalytic activity under irradiation at λ higher than 420 nm is not much improved. Under UV–visible radiation, the two semiconductors are activated. We propose a mechanism explaining why our products are more effective under UV–visible irradiation. In this case the charge separation is enhanced because a part of photogenerated electrons from the conduction band of TiO2 will go to the conduction band of bismuth oxide. In this composite, titanium dioxide is the main photocatalyst, while bismuth oxide acts as adsorbent photosensitizer under visible light.  相似文献

The NO/H2/O2 reaction was studied under oxidizing conditions in the 100-400 °C range over 0.1 wt% Pt supported on various metal oxides such as MgO, CeO2, SiO2, La2O3, CaO, Y2O3 and TiO2. The Pt/MgO and Pt/CeO2 catalysts showed good catalytic behaviours. Here, we find that the Pt/Mg-Ce-O catalyst, prepared from MgO and CeO2 by the sol-gel method, is a very active and selective catalyst towards N2 formation in the whole 100–400 °C range. This catalyst appears to be the most active, selective and stable one ever reported in the literature for the NO/H2/O2 reaction, even in the presence of 5%v H2O or 20 ppmv of SO2 in the feed stream.Selected article from the Regional Symposium on Chemistry and Environment, Krusevac, Serbia, June 2003, organised by Dr. Branimir Jovancicevic.  相似文献

N2O is a powerful greenhouse gas and plays an important role in destructing the ozone layer. This present work investigated the effects of Pd doping on N2O formation over Pt/BaO/Al2O3 catalyst. Three types of catalysts, Pt/BaO/Al2O3, Pt/Pd mechanical mixing catalyst (Pt/BaO/Al2O3 + Pd/Al2O3) and Pt-Pd co-impregnation catalyst (Pt-Pd/BaO/Al2O3) were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation method. These catalysts were first evaluated in NSR activity tests using H2/CO as reductants and then carefully characterized by BET, CO chemisorption, CO-DRIFTs and H2-TPR techniques. In addition, temperature programmed reactions of NO with H2/CO were conducted to obtain further information about N2O formation mechanism. Compared with Pt/BaO/Al2O3, (Pt/BaO/ Al2O3 + Pd/Al2O3) produced less N2O and more NH3 during NO x storage and reduction process, while an opposite trend was found over (Pt-Pd/BaO/Al2O3 + Al2O3). Temperature programmed reactions of NO with H2/CO results showed that Pd/Al2O3 component in (Pt/BaO/Al2O3 + Pd/Al2O3) played an important role in NO reduction to NH3, and the formed NH3 could reduce NO x to N2 leading to a decrease in N2O formation. Most of N2O formed over (Pt-Pd/BaO/Al2O3 + Al2O3) was originated from Pd/BaO/Al2O3 component. H2-TPR results indicated Pd-Ba interaction resulted in more difficultto- reduce PdOx species over Pd/BaO/Al2O3, which inhibits the NO dissociation and thus drives the selectivity to N2O in NO reduction.

The photodegradation of Acid blue 74 in aqueous solution employing a H2O2/ultraviolet system in a photochemical reactor was investigated. The kinetics of decolorization were studied by application of a kinetic model. The results show that the reaction of decolorization followed pseudo-first order kinetics. We demonstrate that there is an optimum H2O2 concentration, at which the rate of the decolorization reaction is maximum. Irradiation at 253.7 nm of the dye solution in the presence of H2O2 results in complete discoloration after ten minutes of treatment.  相似文献

We have discovered that HNO3 and related species are released from the TiO2 surface into air in the TiO2 photocatalytic oxidation of NO2 (1 ppm) under continuous UV light illumination (1 mW cm−2) by dehumidifying the outlet gas of the reaction and analyzing the recovered condensate liquid by ion chromatography. The origin of the HNO3 recovered in the dehumidifier could not be explained by a simple desorption of HNO3 overproduced on the TiO2 surface. The produced HNO3 must be activated on the TiO2 surface and causing the unidentified reaction.  相似文献

Oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acids is a major reaction. Conventionally, this reaction is carried out with oxidants and metal catalysts, thus producing unwanted metal waste. Recently, aqueous media have been used as an alternative for toxic organic solvents. Here, we tested the clathrate-structured, neutral hydrogen peroxide adduct 4Na2SO4·2H2O2·NaCl for the oxidation of aldehydes to acids in aqueous solution. We found that various aromatic, heteroaromatic and aliphatic aldehydes were selectively oxidized to corresponding acids in 70–98% yields. This simple acid–base treatment allows to separate easily the acid product in high purity without any organic solvent. Moreover, the adduct is produced using 25% H2O2, with inexpensive sodium sulphate, Na2SO4, and sodium chloride, NaCl. The adduct is a non-toxic white crystalline solid, readily soluble in water, and easy to handle.  相似文献

Dover sole (Solea solea, Linneaus 1758) were raised from first feeding on brine shrimp (Artemia sp.) with different contents and compositions of the essential fatty acids (EFA) arachidonic acid (ARA, 20:4n − 6); eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n − 3), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6− 3), and their metabolic rate and tolerance to hypoxia measured prior to and following metamorphosis and settlement. Four dietary Artemia preparations were compared: (1) un-enriched; (2) enriched with a commercial EFA mixture (Easy DHA SELCO Emulsion); (3) enriched with a marine fish oil combination (VEVODAR and Incromega DHA) to provide a high ratio of ARA to DHA, and (4) enriched with these fish oils to provide a low ratio of ARA to DHA. Sole fed un-enriched Artemia were significantly less tolerant to hypoxia than the other dietary groups. Larvae from this group had significantly higher routine metabolic rate (RMR) in normoxia, and significantly higher O2 partial pressure (PO2) thresholds in progressive hypoxia for their regulation of RMR (P crit) and for the onset of agitation, respiratory distress and loss of equilibrium. Metamorphosis was associated with an overall decline in RMR and increase in P crit, but juveniles fed on un-enriched Artemia still exhibited higher P crit and agitation thresholds than the other groups. Sole fed un-enriched Artemia had significantly lower contents of EFA in their tissues, both before and after settlement. Thus, enriching live feeds with EFA has significant effects on the respiratory physiology of sole early life stages and improves their in vivo tolerance to hypoxia. We found no evidence, however, for any effect of the ratio of ARA to DHA.  相似文献

Paraeuchaeta norvegica (8.5 mm total length) and yolk-sac stage Atlantic cod larvae (4 mm total length) (Gadus morhua) larvae were observed in aquaria (3 l of water) using silhouette video photography. This allowed direct observations (and quantitative measurement) of predator–prey interactions between these two species in 3-dimensions. Tail beats, used by cod larvae to propel themselves through the viscous fluid environment, also generate signals detectable by mechanoreceptive copepod predators. When the prey is close enough for detection and successful capture (approximately half a body-length), the copepod launches an extremely rapid high Reynolds number attack, grabbing the larva around its midsection. While capture itself takes place in milliseconds, minutes are required to subdue and completely ingest a cod larva. The behavioural observations are used to estimate the hydrodynamic signal strength of the cod larva’s tail beats and the copepod’s perceptive field for larval fish prey. Cod larvae are more sensitive to fluid velocity than P. norvegica and also appear capable of distinguishing between the signal generated by a swimming and an attacking copepod. However, the copepod can lunge at much faster velocities than a yolk-sac cod larva can escape, leading to the larva’s capture. These observations can serve as input to the predator–prey component of ecosystem models intended to assess the impact of P. norvegica on cod larvae.  相似文献

The ability to forage at low light intensities can be of great importance for the survival of fish larvae in a pelagic environment. Three-dimensional silhouette imaging was used to observe larval cod foraging and swimming behaviour at three light intensities (dusk ~1.36 × 10−3 W/m2, night ~1.38 × 10−4 W/m2 and darkness ~3.67 × 10−6 W/m2) at 4 different ages from 6 to 53 days post-hatch (dph). At 6 dph, active pursuit of prey was only observed under dusk conditions. Attacks, and frequent orientations, were observed from 26 dph under night conditions. This was consistent with swimming behaviour which suggested that turn angles were the same under dusk and night conditions, but lower in darkness. Cod at 53 dph attacked prey in darkness and turn angles were not different from those under other light conditions. This suggests that larvae are still able to feed at light intensities of 3.67 × 10−6 W/m2. We conclude that larval cod can maintain foraging behaviour under light intensities that correspond to night-time at depths at which they are observed in the field, at least if they encounter high-density patches of prey such as those that they would encounter at thin layers or fronts.  相似文献

We characterized the prey field and the lipid classes/fatty acids in the flesh of age 0 juvenile cod (Gadus morhua) during their late-summer/fall arrival and settlement into eelgrass (Zostera marina) in coastal Newfoundland. Examination of available prey demonstrated a high abundance of small zooplankton (Acartia, Microsetella and Oithona sp.) with no larger Calanus sp. prey. Breakpoint analysis showed significant changes in the accumulation of relative (mg g−1 wet weight) and absolute (μg fish−1) amounts of lipid with standard length at the time of settlement (~60 mm standard length). Settling juvenile cod showed an alternate lipid utilization strategy where they catabolized phospholipids (PL) to a greater extent than triacylgylcerols (TAG). Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) content in cod flesh decreased as fish grew indicating that nearshore zooplankton quality was not optimal for PL formation. The dramatic reduction in cod PL was likely due to both catabolism of muscle and a lack of dietary PUFA suitable for PL synthesis. However, juvenile cod continued to grow, leading to decreased lipid stores and suggesting that cod settling into eelgrass are under intense selection pressure for growth prior to the onset of winter, possibly as a means of escaping gape-limited predation. These data contrast better-studied freshwater and estuarine systems in which lipid storage is critical for successful overwintering.  相似文献

Porous carbon material facilitates the reaction SO2 + O2 + H2O → H2SO4 in coal-burned flue gas for sulfur resources recovery at mild conditions. It draws a long-term mystery on its heterogeneous catalysis due to the complicated synergic effect between its microstructure and chemical components. To decouple the effects of geometric structure from chemical components, classical molecular dynamics method was used to investigate the static and dynamic characteristics of the reactants (H2O, SO2 and O2) in the confined space truncated by double-layer graphene (DLG). Strong adsorption of SO2 and O2 by the DLG was observed, which results in the filling of the solute molecules into the interior of the DLG and the depletion of H2O. This effect mainly results from the different affinity of the DLG to the species and can be tuned by the separation of the two graphene layers. Such dimension dependence of the static and dynamic properties like distribution profile, molecular cluster, hydrogen bond and diffusion coefficient were also studied. The conclusions drawn in this work could be helpful to the further understanding of the underlying reaction mechanism of desulfurization process in porous carbon materials and other applications of carbon-based catalysts.

Diel swimming behaviors of juvenile anchovies (Anchoa spp.) were observed using stationary hydroacoustics and synoptic physicochemical and zooplankton profiles during four unique water quality scenarios in the Neuse River Estuary, NC, USA. Vertical distribution of fish was restricted to waters with DO greater than 2.5 mg O2 l−1, except when greater than 70% of the water column was hypoxic and a subset of fish were occupying water with 1 mg O2 l−1. We made the prediction that an individual fish would select a swim speed that would maximize net energy gain given the abundance and availability of prey in the normoxic waters. During the day, fish adopted swim speeds between 7 and 8.8 bl s−1 that were near the theoretical optimum speeds between 7.0 and 8.0 bl s−1. An exception was found during severe hypoxia, when fish were swimming at 60% above the optimum speed (observed speed = 10.6 bl s−1, expected = 6.4 bl s−1). The anchovy is a visual planktivore; therefore, we expected a diel activity pattern characteristic of a diurnal species, with quiescence at night to minimize energetic costs. Under stratified and hypoxic conditions with high fish density coupled with limited prey availability, anchovies sustained high swimming speeds at night. The sustained nighttime activity resulted in estimated daily energy expenditure over 20% greater than fish that adopted a diurnal activity pattern. We provide evidence that the sustained nighttime activity patterns are a result of foraging at night due to a lower ration achieved during the day. During severe hypoxic events, we also observed individual fish making brief forays into the hypoxic hypolimnion. These bottom waters generally contained higher prey (copepod) concentrations than the surface waters. The bay anchovy, a facultative particle forager, adopts a range of behaviors to compensate for the effects of increased conspecific density and reduced prey availability in the presence of stratification-induced hypoxia.  相似文献

Lesser sandeel (Ammodytes tobianus) is abundant in near-shore areas where it is a key prey. It exhibits the behaviour of alternating between swimming in schools and lying buried in the sediment. We first determined the species’ standard metabolic rate (SMR), critical partial pressure of oxygen and maximal oxygen uptake The sandeel were then exposed to an acute stepwise decline in water oxygen pressure (18.4, 13.8, 9.8, 7.5, 5.8, 4.0, and 3.1 kPa ). Swimming speed and routine- and post-experimental blood lactate levels were measured, in addition to levels associated with strenuous exercise. The SMR was 69.0 ± 8.4 mg O2 kg−1 h−1 and the about seven times as high. The was found to be 4.1 kPa. A rapid decrease (within 1 h) in from 18.4 to 3.1 kPa had no significant effect on routine swimming speed (0.9 ± 0.06 bl s−1), but steady levels at the lowest (3.1 kPa) gradually reduced the swimming speed by 95% after 40 min. The routine blood lactate levels were 2.2 ± 0.6 mmol l−1, while the levels in the strenuously exercised groups were significantly higher with 5.4 ± 1.6 and 5.8 ± 1.3 mmol l−1. The highest levels were observed in post-experimental fish with 7.5 ± 2.7 mmol l−1. We argue that, as sandeel showed no decrease in swimming speed (to offset stress) nor an increased speed to escape the hypoxia, the fish either rely on a low SMR and being a reasonable strong oxygen regulator as a mean to cope when exposed to acute hypoxia, or that the hypoxia simply developed too fast for the fish to decide on an appropriate strategy. Not showing a behavioural response may in the present case be maladaptive, as the consequence was major physiological stress which the fish however appears tolerant towards. The high routine blood lactate levels suggest that anaerobic metabolism is associated with swimming in sandeel, which may be related to the specific lifestyle of the fish where they regularly bury in the sediment.  相似文献

Chromium oxide and manganese oxide promoted ZrO2-CeO2 catalysts were prepared by a homogeneous precipitation method for the selective catalytic reduction of NO x with NH3. A series of characterization including X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area analysis, H2 temperatureprogrammed reduction (H2-TPR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to evaluate the influence of the physicochemical properties on NH3-SCR activity. Cr-Zr-Ce and Mn-Zr-Ce catalysts are much more active than ZrO2-CeO2 binary oxide for the low temperature NH3-SCR, mainly because of the high specific surface area, more surface oxygen species, improved reducibility derived from synergistic effect among different elements. Mn-Zr-Ce catalyst exhibited high tolerance to SO2 and H2O. Cr-Zr-Ce mixed oxide exhibited>80% NO x conversion at a wide temperature window of 100°C–300°C. In situ DRIFT studies showed that the addition of Cr is beneficial to the formation of Bronsted acid sites and prevents the formation of stable nitrate species because of the presence of Cr6 +. The present mixed oxide can be a candidate for the low temperature abatement of NO x .

The burrowing decapod Nephrops norvegicus (L.) was kept under various degrees of hypoxia in order to measure respiration, heart rate, scaphognathite rate, haemolymph oxygen content and pH. An emergence reaction to hypoxia occurred only in dim light (<10-2 m-c) or darkness, but after 10 d of moderate hypoxia the decapods showed no emergence response at all. The weight specific respiration of quiescent individuals was relatively low and increased only slightly in hypoxia (PwO2=40 torr). Heart rate, about 50 beats min-1, changed little during hypoxia, down to PwO2=40 torr, whereas scaphognathite rates rose from about 60 beats min-1 at normoxia to peak at 120 beats min-1 at PwO2=40 torr. The oxygen extraction efficiency (E) remained at 20 to 30% during the first hour of hypoxia then rose gradually to maximum values of 30 to 40%. A small respiratory alkalosis of the blood became evident only after 4h of hypoxia (PwO2=50 torr). Normoxic postbranchial O2 tensions (PaO2) were low (25–30 torr) and showed only a small decline during hypoxia. Over 10 to 13 d in moderate hypoxia an effective biosynthesis of 0.024 mM haemocyanin individual-1 d-1 occurred in fed decapods, whereas controls (normoxic) showed no significant change in pigment levels. A linear relationship between oxygen carrying capacity and haemocyanin concentration was found. It is contended that N. norvegicus is better able to cope with periodic exposure to hypoxia when food of sufficient quantity and quality is available.  相似文献

Heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction has been extensively investigated to eliminate refractory organic contaminants in wastewater, but it usually shows low catalytic performance due to difficulty in reduction from Fe(III) to Fe(II). In this study, enhanced catalytic efficiency was obtained by employing Cu-doped BiFeO3 as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts, which exhibited higher catalytic performance toward the activation of H2O2 for phenol degradation than un-doped BiFeO3. BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 displayed the best performance, which yielded 91% removal of phenol (10 mg L–1) in 120 min. The pseudo first-order kinetic rate constant of phenol degradation in BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 catalyzed heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction was 5 times higher than those of traditional heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts, such as Fe3O4 and goethite. The phenol degradation efficiency could still reach 83% after 4 cycles, which implied the good stability of BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3. The high catalytic activity of BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 was attributed to the fact that the doping Cu into BiFeO3 could promote the generation of Fe(II) in the catalyst and then facilitate the activation of H2O2 to degrade the organic pollutants.
