Summary The performance of a cellular phone commercial helical antenna at 900~MHz band, both in free space and in the presence of
a human head phantom was studied. Numerical simulation of the phone model for the latter case has been performed giving 3D
radiation diagrams. The effect of the phantom head on radiation diagrams is presented. The relative amount of the EM power
absorbed in the head was obtained for several distances of the phone. Measurements were carried out in a RF anechoic chamber
using standard horn antennas and a calibrated measuring system. Absolute radiation patterns of the antenna gain were obtained
in the three principal planes. Significant reduction of the absorbed power could be achieved just by moving the phone 1 cm

Geochemical, mineralogical and sedimentological analyses were carried out to contrast two different sites (respectively characterized
by permanently oxic and anoxic conditions) in a small, meromictic, seawater lake. In fact, due to relatively high organic
matter content, and reduced water exchange, the Rogoznica Lake has almost permanent anoxic conditions below the depth of 12 m,
where sediment can be considered an anoxic–sulphidic sedimentary environment. Different water column and sediments redox conditions
affect the distribution and speciation of major redox-sensitive metals (Fe, Mn, Mo), reduced sulphur species (RSS) and dissolved
organic C (DOC). Trace metals, especially those that accumulate in anoxic–sulphidic environments (Fe, Mo) showed a marked
enrichment in the solid phase, whereas the low solubility of sulphides leads to low porewater concentrations. The relatively
high sedimentary enrichment of Mo (up to 81 mg/kg) also confirms highly anoxic conditions within the Rogoznica Lake sediments.
Results clearly show that chemical species within the sediments will tend towards equilibrium between porewater and solid
phase according the prevailing environment conditions such as redox, pH, salinity, DOC. 相似文献

Polyisocyanurate foams were prepared from polymeric 4,4-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), soy polyol and polypropylene oxide polyol by varying isocyanate index from 110 to 350. The higher isocyanate index produced polyisocyanurate foams with higher thermal stability, improved flame resistance, tensile strength, higher modulus, and higher glass transition. Soy-based foams displayed better thermal stability, lower flammability, higher rigidity (modulus) and higher compression strength than those based on the propylene oxide polyols of the same molecular weight and functionality. 相似文献

A stock of mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis was transplanted over 1 year to four sites in a semi-enclosed bay in Croatia which is under the influence of various sources of pollution. The positive correlation of metal (Cd, Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe) and metallothionein (MT) tissue contents based on the analysis of heat-treated cytosol of gills with shell mass, as an indicator of mussel age, indicated to accumulation of metals, as well as the increase of MTs with mussel age. The principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that 74% of total variance of obtained results could be explained through two principal components. The first principal component was highly correlated with MT, Cd and Zn indices (metal or MT content/shell mass), and the second one with Cu, Mn, and Fe indices, as well as the gill index. High correlation of MTs with Zn and Cd is consistent with their affinity for binding to MTs. 相似文献

Heavy metals in urban soils continue to attract attention because of their potential long-term effects on human health. During
a previous investigation of urban soils in Galway City, Ireland, a pollution hotspot of Pb, Cu, Zn and As was identified in
the sports ground of South Park in the Claddagh. The sports ground was formerly a rubbish dumping site for both municipal
and industrial wastes. In the present study, a portable X-ray fluorescence (PXRF) analyser was used to obtain rapid in-situ
elemental analyses of the topsoil (depth: about 5–10 cm) at 200 locations on a 20 × 20-m grid in South Park. Extremely high
values of the pollutants were found, with maximum values of Pb, Zn, Cu and As of 10,297, 24,716, 2224 and 744 mg/kg soil,
respectively. High values occur particularly where the topsoil cover is thin, whereas lower values were found in areas where
imported topsoil covers the polluted substrate. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) techniques were applied to the dataset
to create elemental spatial distribution maps, three-dimensional images and interpretive hazard maps of the pollutants in
the study area. Immediate action to remediate the contaminated topsoil is recommended to safeguard the health of children

Climate change is affecting biodiversity worldwide inducing species to either “move, adapt or die”. In this paper we propose a conceptual framework for analysing range shifts, namely a catalogue of the possible patterns of change in the distribution of a species along elevational or other environmental gradients and an improved quantitative methodology to identify and objectively describe these patterns. Patterns are defined in terms of changes occurring at the leading, trailing or both edges of the distribution: (a) leading edge expansion, (b) trailing edge retraction, (c) range expansion, (d) optimum shift, (e) expansion, (f) retraction, and (g) shift. The methodology is based on the modelling of species distributions along a gradient using generalized additive models (GAMs). Separate models are calibrated for two distinct periods of assessment and response curves are compared over five reference points. Changes occurred at these points are formalized into a code that ultimately designates the corresponding change pattern. We tested the proposed methodology using data from the Swiss national common breeding bird survey. The elevational distributions of 95 bird species were modelled for the periods 1999-2002 and 2004-2007 and significant upward shifts (all patterns confounded) were identified for 35% of the species. Over the same period, an increase in mean temperature was registered for Switzerland. In consideration of the short period covered by the case study, assessed change patterns are considered to correspond to intermediate patterns in an ongoing shifting process. However, similar patterns can be determined by habitat barriers, land use/land cover changes, competition with concurrent or invasive species or different warming rates at different elevations. 相似文献

Observer reactions to interpersonal injustice: The roles of perpetrator intent and victim perception

The present research contributes to a growing literature on observer reactions to injustice experienced by others. In particular, we separated two variables that have previously been confounded in prior research, namely perpetrator intent to cause harm and victim perception of harm. We expected that injustice intent and injustice perceptions would have both unique and joint effects on observer reactions. The results of three experiments in which we manipulated perpetrator injustice intent and victim injustice perceptions supported our predictions. First, we found that observers had more negative reactions toward superiors who intended to inflict high versus low levels of interpersonal injustice toward a subordinate. Second, the injustice intent of the superior influenced observers' reactions more than did victim perceptions of injustice. Third, most novel, we found that the mere intent to cause injustice generated negative reactions in observers, even in the absence of a “true” victim—that is, when the subordinate perceptions of injustice were low. Together, our results emphasize the importance of examining observers' reactions to injustice and incorporating perpetrator intentions into the study of organizational justice. Long-term investigations of radiocaesium activity concentrations in carp in the Republic of Croatia are presented. The radiocaesium levels in carp decreased exponentially and the effective ecological half-life of (137)Cs was estimated to be about 1 year during 1987-2002 and 5 years during 1993-2005. The observed (134)Cs:(137)Cs activity ratio in carp was found to be similar to the ratio observed in other environmental samples. The concentration factor for carp (wet weight) was estimated to be 128+/-74 Lkg(-1), which is in reasonable agreement with model prediction based on K(+) concentrations in water. Estimated annual effective dose received by adult members of the Croatian population due to consumption of carp contaminated with (134)Cs and (137)Cs are small: per capita dose from this source during 1987-2005 was estimated to be 0.5+/-0.2 microSv. Due to minor freshwater fish consumption in Croatia and low radiocaesium activity concentrations in carp, it can be concluded that carp consumption was not a critical pathway for the transfer of radiocaesium from fallout to humans after the Chernobyl accident. 相似文献

This study explored the removal of five veterinary pharmaceuticals (VPs) (sulfamethoxazole (SMETOX), trimethoprim (TMP),
ciprofloxacin (CIPRO), dexamethasone (DEXA) and febantel (FEBA)) from different water matrices (Milli-Q water, model water, tap
water and real pharmaceutical wastewater using four types of nanofiltration (NF) membranes (NF90, NF270, NF and HL) and two
reverse osmosis (RO) membranes (LFC-1 and XLE). All VPs were added to different water matrices at a concentration of 10 mg/L.
Rejections of VPs and water flux were measured. The rejection increased with increase of molecular weight. The highest rejections
were obtained with RO membranes (LFC-1, XLE) and tight NF (NF90) membrane. In general, the rejection of VPs was higher in
model water and tap water than in Milli-Q water, but the water flux was lower. This was mainly explained by ion adsorption inside the
membranes pores. Narrower pore size counteracted the effect of presence of low concentration of natural organic matter (NOM) in tap
water. The NOM was assumed to enhance the adsorption of VPs onto membrane surface, increased the size exclusion and electrostatic
repulsion also appeared during the transport. Investigated water matrices had influence on water flux decline due to their complexity. 相似文献
