Reduction of migration of fecal coliforms (FC) and streptococci (FS) by limiting the leaching in effluent-irrigated soil was tested in lysimeters packed with quartz sand without or with added biosolids compost or with one of two clayey soils. The 200-L, 70-cm-deep lysimeters were either planted with a Eucalyptus camaldulensis or an Oroblanco citrus tree (in the sand only), or not planted. The Eucalyptus was irrigated with oxidation pond effluent (OPE) and the Oroblanco with mechanical-biological treatment plant effluent (MBTPE). The leaching fraction (LF) ranged from 0.2 to about 1.0, and the residence time (RT) from under 1 to 40 d. The Eucalyptus was also tested under intermittent leaching (RT 11-20 d) and deficit irrigation (without leaching for about 6 mo) regimes. Under MBTPE irrigation there was little or no leaching of FC and FS. Under OPE irrigation at LF 1 without a Eucalyptus there was little or no bacterial leaching at irrigation rates below 40 L d(-1) per lysimeter (RT > or = 0.8 d). Bacterial counts in the leachate were substantial in the presence of a Eucalyptus tree under LF 0.2 and intermittent leaching regimes, and when sand-packed unplanted lysimeters received OPE effluent at >45 L d(-1). Bacterial recovery peaked at LF 0.2, at up to 45% of the input level. At LF 1 (RT 0.6-2.8 d) and with intermittent leaching the recoveries were minute. Bacterial counts in the washout from the deficit-irrigated lysimeters were typical of nonpolluted soils. The bacterial concentration and recovery patterns in the leachate mostly matched the organic carbon (OC) load in the irrigation water, and its concentration and bioavailablity in the leachate. We related the leaching patterns of the fecal bacteria to their relative reproduction and die-off rates, and to the dependence of their regrowth on available carbon sources.  相似文献

The wide application of microalgae in the field of wastewater treatment and bioenergy source has improved research studies in the past years. Microalgae represent a good source of biomass and bio-products which are used in different medical and industrial activities, among them the production of high-valued products and biofuels. The present review focused on greywater treatment through the application of phycoremediation technique with microalgae and presented recent advances in technologies used for harvesting the microalgae biomass. Many drivers of mangrove forest loss operate over large scales and are most effectively addressed by policy interventions. However, conflicting or unclear policy objectives exist at multiple tiers of government, resulting in contradictory management decisions. To address this, we considered four approaches that are being used increasingly or could be deployed in Southeast Asia to ensure sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity conservation. First, a stronger incorporation of mangroves into marine protected areas (that currently focus largely on reefs and fisheries) could resolve some policy conflicts and ensure that mangroves do not fall through a policy gap. Second, examples of community and government comanagement exist, but achieving comanagement at scale will be important in reconciling stakeholders and addressing conflicting policy objectives. Third, private‐sector initiatives could protect mangroves through existing and novel mechanisms in degraded areas and areas under future threat. Finally, payments for ecosystem services (PES) hold great promise for mangrove conservation, with carbon PES schemes (known as blue carbon) attracting attention. Although barriers remain to the implementation of PES, the potential to implement them at multiple scales exists. Closing the gap between mangrove conservation policies and action is crucial to the improved protection and management of this imperiled coastal ecosystem and to the livelihoods that depend on them.  相似文献

Material selection for automotive closures is influenced by different factors such as cost, weight and structural performance. Among closures, the automotive bonnet must fulfill the requirements of pedestrian safety which is evaluated by child and adult headform impactors. The mechanisms of injury are complex, therefore; the Head Injury Criterion (HIC) which shows a measure of the likelihood of head injury arising from an impact is developed. HIC includes the effects of head acceleration and the duration of the acceleration.In this paper a new finite element model has been developed which is capable to simulate head impact phenomenon between headform impactors and composite bonnet. Then the behavior of three identical bonnets made of steel, aluminum and composite have been investigated by the developed model. It is shown that the energy absorption of aluminum bonnet is smaller than steel and composite ones and for keeping the aluminum bonnet at the same level of stiffness, it is necessary to increase the thickness. Therefore, the aluminum bonnet needs a larger space between the bonnet and the parts in the engine compartment. It is shown that although the displacement of headform for composite bonnet is more than that of steel and aluminum ones, but the amount of HIC’s, which are measured at the collision points are much less than those measured at the same collision points for steel and aluminum bonnets.In addition the comparison of three bonnets of the different materials has been done to highlight cost, weight, and structural performance issues.  相似文献

In this study a novel variant of friction stir processing was developed for producing of polymer metal surface or bulk composites in order to enhance the mechanical, electrical and thermal properties. For this purpose, a novel tooling system was designed consists of a rotating pin, a stationary shoulder and a heating system located inside the shoulder. In present paper, for preliminary study high-density polyethylene and copper powder was selected as polymeric matrix and metallic additive, respectively. Surface quality, microstructure, ultimate tensile strength and the modulus of elasticity were determined for each prepared sample. From experimental tests, it was found that this approach is an efficient method for producing of polymer–metal composites.  相似文献

This survey was performed to aim of synthesize Nano emulsion from Ferula gummosa essential oil (FEGO-NE) and to evaluate its anti-tumor effect. First, Ferula gummosa essential oil was analyzed by GC–MS method, and then the Nano emulsion was synthesized as O/W and after characterization by DLS, Zeta potential, AFM, FESEM and TEM methods, its toxicity was evaluated by MTT method. Then its pro-apoptotic effects were evaluated by qPCR (Caspase3, 9, Bax and Bcl-2) method and AO/PI staining. The cancer induction model was used to evaluate the antitumor effects in Balb/C mice. The anti-angiogenic and antioxidant effects were evaluated by qPCR (VEGF, CAT and SOD) method. The results of physicochemical studies showed the formation of droplet with dimensions of 24.6 nm, dispersion index of 0.41 and zeta potential of ? 28.5 mV with a spherical morphology. The Nano emulsion synthesized at a concentration of 2.9 μg/mL inhibited about 50% of ht-29 cells, while up to a concentration of 4 μg/mL showed no inhibitory effect on normal cells. Increase of caspase 3, 9 and Bax and decrease of BCL-2 gene expression along with increase of apoptotic cells in AP/PI staining confirmed induction of apoptosis by FEGO-NE. The FEGO-NE showed an inhibitory effect on angiogenesis and an additive effect on the expression of antioxidant genes. In addition, the reduction of tumor volume (69.72% in 14 days) in samples treated with FEGO-NE was confirmed. The results of this study showed that FEGO-NE by various mechanisms are able to inhibit cancer cells and have a reducing effect on induced tumors in the in vivo model. These results suggest FEGO-NEs as a suitable candidate for cancer therapy studies.

The adsorption and photo-Fenton degradation of tetracycline (TC) over Fe-saturated nanoporous montmorillonite was analyzed. The synthesized samples were characterized using XRD, FTIR, SEM, and XRF analysis, and the adsorption and desorption of TC onto these samples, as well as the antimicrobial activity of TC during these processes, were analyzed at different pH. Initially, a set of adsorption/desorption experiments was conducted, and surprisingly, up to 50% of TC adsorbed was released from Mt structure. Moreover, the desorbed TC had strong antibacterial activity. Then, an acid treatment (for the creation of nanoporous layers) and Fe saturation of the montmorillonite were applied to improve its adsorption and photocatalytic degradation properties over TC. Surprisingly, the desorption of TC from modified montmorillonite was still high up to 40% of adsorbed TC. However, simultaneous adsorption and photodegradation of TC were detected and almost no antimicrobial activity was detected after 180 min of visible light irradiation, which could be due to the photo-Fenton degradation of TC on the modified montmorillonite surface. In the porous structures of modified montmorillonite high, ˙OH radicals were created in the photo-Fenton reaction and were measured using the Coumarin technique. The ˙OH radicals help the degradation of TC as proposed in an oxidation process. Surprisingly, more than 90% of antimicrobial activity of the TC decreased under visible light (after 180 min) when desorbed from nanoporous Fe-saturated montmorillonite compared to natural montmorillonite. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that such a high TC desorption rate from an adsorbent with the least residual antimicrobial activity is reported which makes nanoporous Fe-saturated montmorillonite a perfect separation substance of TC from the environment.
