Norwich is the eastern most city in the United Kingdom. Despite a population of only 100,000 and very little local industry, studies have shown that the city experiences levels of nitrogen dioxide, ozone, particulates and sulphur dioxide exceeding the UK Air Quality Standards. Because of Norwich's situation within a large, predominantly rural area a large non-resident workforce is one factor that contributes to large, often very congested traffic flows. The city's location close to the European mainland also exposes it to polluted airmasses transported from the continent, especially in the case of particulates and ozone. In order to assess the relative contributions of local and regional sources, data from rural and urban monitoring sites are to be used in conjunction with ADMS-Urban and the UK Meteorological Office's NAME model.  相似文献

研究了用超临界水氧化法(SCWO法)在673.2 ̄773.2K、24 ̄30MPa条件下处理含硫废水。结果表明,SCWO可将硫离子高效去除。增加反应空时、压力、氧硫比可显著提高硫的去除率。较低温度下,温度的升高对硫的去除率影响不明显;较高温度下,升高温度可显著提高硫的去除率。  相似文献

A survey of the crown status of Turkey oak Quercus cerris L.) trees in the boron-rich area atTravale (Southern Tuscany, Italy) was carried outin order to evaluate the impact ofgeothermal power plants. Crown thinness was assessed andmorphological and chemical tests werecarried out on leaf samples. Leaf area and dry weight weredetermined as morphological parameters;while the chemical measurements performed included nitrogenand potassium (among the nutrients),and sulphur, boron, arsenic and mercury (among the elements ofgeothermal origin). Acute damagewas found only in the area immediately adjacent to the outletsand is the result of the action of boron;crown thinness, on the other hand, is affected by the natureof the geological substrate. High quantitiesof sulphur were found in leaves throughout the survey area,due both to the availability of this elementin the geopedological substrate and to the atmospheric inputof geothermal H2S. The leafcontent of this element correlates negatively with thedistance from the power plants. Boron andarsenic are the other geothermal origin elements most commonlyfound in plant matrices. The presenceof these two elements is associated with leaf area reductionand/or an increase of specific dry weight.The most significant impact on the environment appears to beexerted by the southernmost powerplant, where there is an unfavourable ratio between quantityof emissions and height of the chimneys.  相似文献

Mugla is a city that is located in the southwest part of Turkey. Three thermo-electric power plants called Yatagan (3 × 210 MW) and Yenikoy (2 × 210 MW)and Kemerkoy (Gokova, 3 × 210 MW) havebeen constructed in this region and also have begun operation in 1982 – 1983 – 1984 (three units), in 1988 and in 1995, respectively. The Pinus brutia forests in Yerkesik–Denizova region have been under the common effects of Yenikoy and Yatagan thermo-electric power plants. Therefore, these Pinus brutia forests have startedto dry in groups since 1988. In addition, Kemerkoy thermo-electric power plant, began operation in 1995.Polluting gases arrived in Denizova-Yerkesik throughKoca Stream Valley Forests.Increasing quantities of polluting gases and especially SO2 have dried the trees in large amounts in this 1650 ha forestland area. YataganThermo-electric power plant has caused drying of Pinus brutia in Bencik Mountain, which was on the south in 1984–1985. The same phenomenon was seen in Denizova-Yerkesik Forest in 1999–2000. It was observed that sulphur content was varying between 4218–6676 ppm at the Pinus brutia needle samples taken in this region on 16 December 2000. Sulphur contents were correlated with the age of needle (1–2 yr old), density of yellow stains on the needles and amount of drying needles. Particularly in 1996–2000 period, the destruction of chlorophyll in needles due to the impacts of SO2 was also correlated with narrowing of the annual rings from one year to another. The narrowing ratio of yearly rings reached 60–504% for 94–95 yr old, and 375–661% for 58–63 yr old Pinus brutia trees during the 1986–1990, 1991–1995 and 1996–2000 periods.All these results clearly showed that the decrease in the chlorophyll content in needles under the effect of air pollution caused important reduction in the raw timber production and its inputs to the economy. In other words, drying due to increased ecological sensitivity or direct hazard of pollutants emitted by the power plants and cutting of trees have been notably increased in the region. The distribution of environmental pollutant, sulphur, over Kano municipality was monitored on the basis of the chemical analysis of Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) needles collected from randomly selected sampling points over the period 1995–1996. Of the five zones in which the municipal area was subdivided, two could be regarded as least polluted, two as moderately polluted and one zone as heavily polluted. The mean value of all measurements in the metropolis amounted to 1940 gg–1 S with a co-efficient of variation of 38 percent.  相似文献

污水污灌一直是灌区农业灌溉的一种重要形式,但由于系统接纳污水的成分复杂,也常常带来灌溉风险。主要针对污灌水体中的硫离子给水稻带来的危害,提出利用光敏剂快速除硫的可能性。土柱实验发现,光敏剂在土壤中的吸附符合Langmuir等温式Qeq=3.81Ce/(1+1.293Ce),当其加入量为10μmol/L,光照强度为3000lx时,S2-的去除率为87.5%;光照强度为2000lx时,S2-的去除率为78.1%,而完成该过程仅需要30min,并且光敏剂也不会给环境带来二次污染。  相似文献

以无机硫(S2-为目标污染物,从北京东沙河黑臭水体筛选出一株能够高效氧化S2-的土著硫氧化菌,并对其进行16S rRNA测序及生理生化特性鉴定,结果表明,该菌株属于寡养单胞菌属(Stenotrophomonas),命名为Stenotrophomonas sp.sp3.菌株sp3在温度25℃,初始pH值7.0,初始葡萄糖浓度0.25%,初始菌浓度1.00g/L时,菌株sp3对S2-的氧化率最高.在此适宜条件下,反应60h后,菌株sp3对S2-的最高氧化率达到86.6%.S2-的浓度在整个氧化过程中持续下降后保持稳定,在此过程中产生了S0,S2O32-,SO32-以及SO42-这4种其它存在形态的硫.随着S2-被氧化,SO42-的浓度呈缓慢上升的趋势.利用高通量测序技术推测菌株sp3主要是通过副球菌硫氧化途径(PSO)将非稳定态的S2-逐步转化为稳定态的SO42-.在此代谢途径中,一部分S2-被氧化为S0,另一部分S2-则直接氧化为SO32-;S0与SO32-可自发反应生成S2O32-,而S2O32-发生歧化反应再释放出SO32-和S0;反应生成的部分SO32-继续直接氧化为SO42-.菌株sp3在黑臭水体的水质净化过程中有一定的应用前景.  相似文献
