Nine amino acids, i.e., alanine, threonine, cysteine, glutamic acid, arginine, proline, tryptophan, phenylalanine and tyrosine, were irradiated with UV light in water containing nitrite or nitrate ion under neutral conditions. The mutagenicities of the ether extracts and the residual water layers of the reaction mixtures were assayed with and without S-9 mix using Salmonella typhimurium TA98 and TA100. Three aromatic amino acids, tryptophan, phenylalanine and tyrosine, were found to give direct-acting and frameshift mutagens by irradiation in aqueous nitrite solution. Among them, the ether extract of tryptophan exhibited the strongest mutagenicity toward TA98. In the case of irradiation in aqueous nitrate solution, only the ether extract of tryptophan exhibited weak mutagenicity toward TA98 without S-9 mix. The effects of nitrite concentration, irradiation time and pH on mutagen formation from tryptophan and some characteristics of the produced mutagens were examined.  相似文献

This study investigated the deplasticization and dechlorination of flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC) containing 59.2% PVC, 29.7% dioctyl phthalate (DOP), and approximately 12% stabilizers. Flexible PVC was treated with NaOH solutions at concentrations in the range 2–16 mol/l and heated by microwaves to temperatures between 100° and 250°C for 0–120 min. DOP was extracted from flexible PVC into the NaOH solution as a phthalic acid salt; the remaining PVC was subsequently dechlorinated by increasing the temperature. On internal heating using microwaves, the plasticizer was 100% extracted during processing at 150°C for 30 min, whereas the chlorides were 100% removed during processing at 235°C for 30 min; the residue was converted into hydrocarbon compounds. The maximum weight loss ratio was 71% compared to the pretreatment state. It was also found that 100% deplasticization and dechlorination was possible using 8 mol/l NaOH solution, which is almost half the concentration employed when using conventional external heating systems.  相似文献

The zoanthid genus Isaurus (Anthozoa: Hexacorallia) is known from both the Indo-Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, but phylogenetic studies examining Isaurus using molecular markers have not yet been conducted. Here, two genes of markers [mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) and mitochondrial 16S ribosomal DNA (mt 16S rDNA)] from Isaurus specimens collected from southern Japan (n = 19) and western Australia (n = 3) were sequenced in order to investigate the molecular phylogenetic position of Isaurus within the order Zoantharia and the family Zoanthidae. Additionally, obtained sequences and morphological data (polyp size, mesentery numbers, mesogleal thickness) were utilized to examine Isaurus species diversity and morphological variation. By comparing our obtained sequences with the few previously acquired sequences of genera Isaurus as well as with Zoanthus, Acrozoanthus (both family Zoanthidae), and Palythoa spp. (family Spenophidae) sequences, the phylogenetic position of Isaurus as sister to Zoanthus within the Family Zoanthidae was suggested. Based on genetic data, Isaurus is most closely related to the genus Zoanthus. Despite considerable morphological variation (in particular, polyp length, mesentery numbers, external coloration) between collected Isaurus specimens, all specimens examined are apparently conspecific or very closely related based on molecular data and observed morphological variation within colonies. Additionally, obtained internal transcribed spacer of ribosomal DNA (ITS-rDNA) sequences from symbiotic zooxanthellae (Symbiodinium spp.) from all Isaurus specimens were shown to be subclade C1-related Symbiodinium. We have developed a method to analyse the annual material flow in a prefecture and have calculated environmental indicators for a prefecture. Material flow analysis (MFA) is important to clarify the structure of a regional society and obtain environmental indicators for a circular society. However, MFA has not advanced in local governments because of few local statistics. We have developed a method to analyse the annual material flow in Aichi prefecture from 1980 to 2000 using an input–output (I–O) table and statistics of Aichi. We have verified the accuracy of this method by comparing its results for 2000 which calculated on the basis of official I–O table for 1995 with the I–O table data for 2000; the correlation coefficient obtained in this case is greater than 0.95. Moreover, by performing MFA, we have estimated the resource consumption and decoupling indicator of each industry in Aichi prefecture from 1980 to 2000. We could obtain more detailed and accurate environmental indicators by using our method. From these results, we could estimate the progress of Aichi prefecture towards a circular society.  相似文献

Dimethylamine was found to be nitrosated photochemically in aqueous solution containing nitrite both by the irradiation with a high pressure mercury lamp and by the exposure to sunlight to give nitrosodimethylamine, a well-known carcinogen. The nitrosation occurred more readily at alkaline pH than at acidic and neutral pH. These findings suggest that nitrosodimethylamine is produced photochemically under natural environmental conditions.  相似文献

The code of occupational health and safety (OHS) is an influential regulation to improve the on-the-job safety of employees. A number of factors influence the planning and implementation of OHS management systems (OHSMS). The evaluation of OHSMS practice is the most important component when forming a health and safety environmental policy for employees. The objective of this research is to develop an intelligent data analysis (IDA) in which possibilistic regression being endowed with a convex hull approach is used to support the analysis of essential factors that influence OHSMS. Given such subjective terms, the obtained samples can be conveniently regarded as fuzzy input/output data represented by membership functions. The study offers this vehicle of intelligent data analysis as an alternative to evaluate the influential factors in a successful implementation of OHS policies and in this way decrease an overall computational effort. The obtained results show that several related OHSMS influential factors need to be carefully considered to facilitate a successful implementation of the OHSMS procedure.  相似文献

Inhalation rate is an essential factor for determining the inhaled dose of air pollutants. Here, accelerometers were used to develop regression equations for predicting the minute ventilation rate (V(E)) to estimate the daily inhalation rate in young children. Body acceleration and heart rate were measured in 29 Japanese preschool children (6 yr of age) during nine different levels of activities (lying down, sitting, standing, playing with plastic bricks, walking, building with blocks, climbing stairs, ball tossing, and running) using the Actical omnidirectional accelerometer, the ActivTracer triaxial accelerometer, and a heart rate monitor. Measurements were calibrated against the V(E) measured by the Douglas bag method. ActivTracer accelerometer measurements gave a strong correlation with V(E) (Pearson's r = 0.913), which was marginally stronger than that for the Actical counts (r = 0.886) and comparable to the correlation between heart rate and logarithmic V(E) (r = 0.909). According to the linear regression equation, the V(E) for lying down, sitting, standing, playing with plastic bricks, walking, and running was overestimated by 14-60% by the Actical and by 14-37% by the ActivTracer. By comparison, for building with blocks, climbing stairs, and ball tossing, the V(E) was underestimated by 19-23% by the Actical and by 13-18% by the ActivTracer. When these three activities were excluded, a stronger correlation was found between the V(E) and ActivTracer measurements (r = 0.949); this correlation was 0.761 for the three excluded activities. Discriminant analysis showed that the ratio between vertical and horizontal acceleration obtained by the ActivTracer could discriminate walking from building with blocks, climbing stairs, and ball tossing with a sensitivity of 75%. The error in estimating V(E) was considerably improved for the ActivTracer measurements by the use of two regression equations developed for each type of activity.  相似文献

Biphenyl was found to be converted to mutagenic compounds by UV irradiation with a high-pressure mercury lamp in nitrate aqueous solution under neutral conditions. The mutagenicity of the reaction mixture increased in proportion to the nitrate ion concentration. The most mutagenic product was dinitro dihydroxy biphenyl, and the main products in this reaction were 2-hydroxy-3-nitrobiphenyl and 4-hydroxy-3-nitrobiphenyl.  相似文献
