Since phenols and phenolic compounds in many industrial wastewaters are toxic organic contaminants for humans and aquatic
life, to remove these compounds via the most efficient way is very important for environmental remediation treatment. In this
context, almost all of the isotherm models (Freundlich, Langmuir, Temkin, Redlich–Peterson, Sips, and Khan) for adsorption
in the literature were applied to explain the adsorption mechanism of 4-chlorophenol on activated carbon in this study. Also
theoretical modeling data were obtained using model equations; interpolation and analysis of variance were made to compare
data by using statistics software. In addition, the thermodynamic and kinetic studies for adsorption mechanism were included
in the article. The adsorption of 4-chlorophenol on activated carbon fits well to the pseudo-first-order kinetic model than
the pseudo-second-order, intraparticular diffusion and Bangham models. It is also indicated that 4-chlorophenol adsorption
by granular activated carbon would be attributed to a type of transition between physical and chemical adsorption rather than
a pure physical or chemical adsorption process. As a result, an environmental remediation problem and the adsorption mechanism
on activated carbon that can be regarded as a solution to this problem are described and explained using the mathematical
models and calculations in this study. 相似文献

This paper was focused on the biosorption of phosphate ions from aqueous solution onto the cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) modified multi-component biosorbent composed of pine, oak, hornbeam and fir sawdust biomasses. A series of batch tests were conducted and the effects of solution pH, ion concentration, quantity of biosorbent and contact time on the bioremoval of phosphate ions were investigated. The biosorption data of kinetic and equilibrium were modeled using various mathematical equations. The phosphate removal increased with increased ion concentration and decreased with increased pH and biosorbent quantity values. The equilibrium state was reached within 120 min of exposure time. The process kinetics was best described by Elovich model while the isotherm data of biosorption best obeyed Freundlich equation. The obtained results revealed that the use of CTAB modified mix sawdust biosorbent presented interesting options for bioremediation of contaminated environments and waste recycling (as nutrient fertilizer and compost material). 相似文献

This paper identifies factors that influence the demand for a bass fishing trip taken in the southeastern United States using a hurdle negative binomial count data model. The probability of fishing for a bass is estimated in the first stage and the fishing trip frequency is estimated in the second stage for individuals reporting bass fishing trips in the Southeast. The applied approach allows the decomposition of the effects of factors responsible for the decision to take a trip and the trip number. Calculated partial and total elasticities indicate a highly inelastic demand for the number of fishing trips as trip costs increase. However, the demand can be expected to increase if anglers experience a success measured by the number of caught fish or their size. Benefit estimates based on alternative estimation methods differ substantially, suggesting the need for testing each modeling approach applied in empirical studies. 相似文献
