The microbe–plant interaction in soil under crude oil pollution was studied in Perm oblast, the Cisural Region. In the rhizosphere of plants growing in the oil-polluted soil, an increased abundance of nonsymbiotic saprotrophic micromycetes was recorded. Under conditions of crude oil pollution, the development of these microorganisms in the rhizosphere proved to have a strong adverse effect on the plants due to production of mycotoxins.  相似文献

Nitrous oxide (N2O) atmospheric emission from differentagricultural soil types in Russia was evaluated based on published data onsingle input of nitrogen (N) fertilizers. For most of experiments the rates offertilization varied from 40 to 75 and from 160 to 264 kg/ha in activematter and they were considered separately. The higher rates ofsynthetic fertilizers (160 to 264 kg/ha) reduced relative gaseous loss ofN as N2O (N2O-N). Evidently, if nitrate (NO3) concentrationswere high, the low content of organic carbon (C) and oxygen (O) restricted soilmicrobiological activity and consequently formation of N2O. Themajority of gaseous loss of N2O-N occurred within 140 days afterthe input of fertilizers. The N2O emission factors derived forchernozem and soddy podzolic soil are 0.0126 and 0.0238 kgN2O-N/kg N respectively. In 1990, the use of N fertilizers innational agriculture caused the release of 53 Gg N2O-N thatconstituted 6% of global N2O emission. Later on, the emissiondropped because of decreased use of N fertilizers, and in 1998 itwas almost 21% of the 1990 level.  相似文献

The Ukraine, which gained independence in 1991, faces serious problems related to environmental degradation. Environmental problems contribute to a deterioration in human health and a negative trend in population growth. Both form part of a raft of socio-economic problems encountered during the country's transition to a free market economy. The most serious problems are found in cities and areas near the Black and Azov Seas, the Dnipro river basin and in the Polissya region. This paper provides an overview of the situation. Social and managerial implications of environmental management are considered alongside associated environmental and human health problems in the country. It is concluded that a desired change in the mindset of policy makers and, indeed, the population at large, is required in parallel with legal and technocratic instruments, while real improvements can only be achieved through economic development, which can be facilitated by Western assistance.  相似文献

The authors consider some possible ways of regulating three types of atmospheric emission of pollutants:
  1. emission of substances causing pollution of the natural environment on the global scale (global pollutants);
  2. emission of substances causing pollution on a regional scale, most often including territories of several countries (international pollutants);
  3. emission of substances causing negative effects in a relatively limited region, for example within border area of two adjoining countries.
Substances (gaseous, as a rule) of a long life-time in the atmosphere that can contaminate natural media on a global scale irrespective of the place of emission refer to the first class of pollutants that are subject to emission regulation at an international level and to quota establishement for individual countries. They are carbon dioxide, freon, krypton-85. Various approaches to determining permissible emission and to quota establishing are discussed in the paper. The second group includes substances of a limited, yet rather long, life-time whose emission intensity makes a notable contribution to environmental pollution of a large region including territories of several countries. Here it is needed to regulate internationally not the atmospheric emission as it is but pollutant transport over national boundaries (sulphur and nitrogen oxides, pesticides, heavy metals). The third group includes substances of relatively short time of life producing local effects. Emission regulation in such cases should be based upon bilateral agreements with due account of countries' mutual interests.  相似文献

A method of calculation of sulphur deposition values on forests subjectto long-term industrial influence is presented. Investigations wereconducted in the vicinities of nickel smelters of Kola peninsula. Sulphurdioxide (SO2) is the major phytotoxicant emitted by theseenterprises. Depositions of sulphur were calculated on the basis of ground air layer pollution. To determine it a mathematical model was applied.Field surveys of forest ecosystems response to air contamination werecarried out and areas of different forest damage degree were identified.More than 4300 km2 of the territory of Kola peninsula isunder the impact of nickel enterprises. Average SO2concentration over the area of slight damage to forests is about 20µg/m3. It corresponds to the critical level proposed for forest ecosystems (UN ECE, 1993). Sulphur deposition over thearea of slight damage varies from 0.6 to 1.0 g/m2yr-1 for coniferous forests. For deciduous forests it isabout 1.0 g/m2 yr-1. These values are close totarget loads for highly sensitive ecosystems (Nilsson et al., 1991), but they exceed critical loads for the northern regions of Europe (Downing etal., 1993).  相似文献
