Heat rejection pressure plays an important role in designing a transcritical CO2 refrigeration system, and it has an optimal value to maximize the system’s coefficient of performance (COP). With a thermodynamic simulation model, the optimal heat rejection pressure is studied in the paper for an expander cycle, as well as conventional throttle valve cycle. The effects of compressor efficiency, expander efficiency, gas cooler outlet temperature, and evaporation temperature on the optimal heat rejection pressure are analyzed. It is the first time for a transcritical CO2 expander cycle that the optimal heat rejection pressure is correlated with the gas cooler outlet temperature and the evaporation temperature at given compressor efficiency and expander efficiency. The average deviation from the correlation to simulation results is less than 1.0%. The correlation provides a guideline to system development and performance optimization of a transcritical CO2 expander cycle.  相似文献

In this study, a comparative thermodynamic performance analysis of cascade system (CCS) for cooling and heating applications is presented and compared for different refrigerant couples. The CCS consists of the low-temperature cycle (LTC) and high-temperature cycle (HTC). The CO2 was used as working fluid in LTC, whereas the HFE 7000, R134a, R152a, R32, R1234yf, and R365mfc refrigerants were used in HTC. The heating and cooling coefficients of performance (COPht, COPcl) and exergy efficiency of CCS are investigated parametrically according to various factors such as the evaporator, condenser, and reference temperatures. After thermodynamic analyses are completed, the COPcl of CCS is obtained as 1.802, 1.806, 1.826, 1.769, 1.777, and 1.835 for CO2-HFE7000, CO2-R134a, CO2-R152a, CO2-R32, CO2-R1234yf, and CO2-365mfc refrigerant couples, respectively. Furthermore, the heat exchanger has the highest exergy destruction rate, whereas the expansion valves have the lowest of exergy destruction rate.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Refrigerant pressure drop and temperature change in pipes are normally ignored in the thermodynamic analysis of traditional vehicle air conditioning system, this will result in serious errors. In this Paper, pressure drop and temperature difference are simulated in different pipes of electric vehicle (EV) heat pump system to analysis the effects of pipes in the actual EV heat pump system. The results indicate that the greater the mass flow, the faster pressure drop increases, the temperature difference decreases. Pressure drop of saturated liquid refrigerant is smaller than that of saturated gas refrigerant at the same saturation pressure and mass flow rate. The higher the refrigerant pressure (no phase change), the slower pressure drop decreases, the faster the temperature difference decreases. Pressure drop decreases with the increment of bending angle of the pipe. For EV heat pump system, suitable valves and less branches are helpful for energy saving of the system. Shortening the pipe between compressor and condenser can reduce temperature change obviously. Pressure drop per unit length in the pipe between evaporator and compressor is large especially in heating mode because of lower refrigerant density. It even reaches to over 100 times of that in the pipe between condenser and throttle valve in heating mode and has negative effects on the performance of the system. If the evaporator is closer to the compressor and the number of branches is less, then pressure drop will decrease a lot, which will be advantageous for energy saving of the heat pump system.  相似文献

In this article, a comparative study is presented for the transcritical cycle with expansion valve (TCEV) and transcritical cycle with vortex tube (TCVT) mainly based on the second law of thermodynamics. Natural refrigerant nitrous oxide (N2O) is used in both the cycles for analysis. The evaporator and gas cooler temperatures are varied from ?55°C to 5°C and 35°C to 60°C, respectively. The effects of various operating and design parameters on the optimum heat rejection pressure, coefficient of performance (COP), exergy loss (irreversibility), and the exergetic efficiency are studied. Exergy analysis of each component in TCEV and TCVT is performed to identify the amount and locations of irreversibility. It is observed that the use of the vortex tube in place of the expansion valve reduces the total exergy losses and increases the exergetic efficiency as well as COP. The exergetic efficiency and COP of the TCVT are on average 10–12% higher compared to TCEV for the considered operating conditions. The computed values of the exergetic efficiency for TCVT using refrigerant N2O are the highest at an evaporator temperature of ?55°C, and the corresponding values of exergetic efficiency and exergy losses varies between 25.35% and 15.67% and between 74.65% and 84.33%, respectively. However, COP at the same evaporator temperature of ?55°C varies between 0.83 and 0.51. Furthermore, the optimum heat rejection pressure in TCVT is lower compared to that in TCEV. The results offer significant help for the optimum design and operating conditions of TCVT with refrigerant N2O.  相似文献

Experimental work is performed with a 5A zeolite on a small laboratory column with heating from the wall. Carbon dioxide adsorption occurs at atmospheric pressure and different CO2 concentrations in nitrogen. Comparisons of different methods of desorption by heating, purge and/or vacuum are studied. Desorption by heating only leads to almost pure CO2 (around 99% purity) and a recovery nearly linear to the heating temperature, ranging from 45% at 130 °C to 79% at 210 °C. Recovery can be subsequently increased with a nitrogen purge to more than 98% but the recovered carbon dioxide is diluted due to the dispersive character of the desorption wave and the operation time is long. Increasing the flow rate decreases the desorption time but has no effect on the purity because the total purge volume remains about the same. Substitution of the purge step with a vacuum step leads to pure CO2 and almost total recovery. Desorption under vacuum only without heating leads to pure CO2 (around 99% purity) but limited recovery (85% in the present work).Desorption under vacuum seems to be more simple for large-scale applications. When using a water liquid ring pump, the temperature of the ring must be kept as low as possible to provide a high operating capacity.  相似文献

CO2 and SO2 are some of the main polluting gases emitted into atmosphere in combustion processes using fossil fuel for energy production. The former is one of the major contributors to build-up the greenhouse effect implicated in global climate change and the latter produces acid rain. Oxy-fuel combustion is a technology, which consists in burning the fuel with a mix of pure O2 and recirculated CO2. With this technology the CO2 concentration in the flue gas may be enriched up to 95%, becoming possible an easy CO2 recovery. In addition, oxy-fuel combustion in fluidized beds allows in situ desulfurization of combustion gases by supplying calcium based sorbent. In this work, the effect of the principal operation variables affecting the sulfation reaction rate in fluidized bed reactors (temperature, CO2 partial pressure, SO2 concentration and particle size) under typical oxy-fuel combustion conditions have been analyzed in a batch fluidized bed reactor using a limestone as sorbent. It has been observed that sulfur retention can be carried out by direct sulfation of the CaCO3 or by sulfation of the CaO (indirect sulfation) formed by CaCO3 calcination. Direct sulfation and indirect sulfation operating conditions depended on the temperature and CO2 partial pressure. The rate of direct sulfation rose with temperature and the rate of indirect sulfation for long reaction times decreased with temperature. An increase in the CO2 partial pressure had a negative influence on the sulfation conversion reached by the limestone due to a higher temperature was needed to work in conditions of indirect sulfation. Thus, it is expected that the optimum temperature for sulfur retention in oxy-fuel combustion in fluidized bed reactors be about 925–950 °C. Sulfation reaction rate rose with decreasing sorbent particle size and increasing SO2 concentration.  相似文献

CO2 capture and storage has gained widespread attention as an option for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Chemical absorption and stripping of CO2 with hot potassium carbonate (K2CO3) solutions has been used in the past, however potassium carbonate solutions have a low CO2 absorption efficiency. Various techniques can be used to improve the absorption efficiency of this system with one option being the addition of promoters to the solvent and another option being an improvement in the mass transfer efficiency of the equipment. This study has focused on improving the efficiency of the packed column by replacing traditional packings with newer types of packing which have been shown to have enhanced mass transfer performance. Three different packings (Super Mini Rings (SMRs), Pall Rings and Mellapak) have been studied under atmospheric conditions in a laboratory scale column for CO2 absorption using a 30 wt% K2CO3 solution. It was found that SMR packing resulted in a mass transfer coefficient approximately 20% and 30% higher than that of Mellapak and Pall Rings, respectively. Therefore, the height of packed column with SMR packing would be substantially lower than with Pall Rings or Mellapak. Meanwhile, the pressure drop using SMR was comparable to other packings while the gas flooding velocity was higher when the liquid load was above 25 kg m−2 s−1. Correlations for predicting flooding gas velocities and pressure drop were fitted to the experimental data, allowing the relevant parameters to be estimated for use in later design.  相似文献

The transcritical CO2 Rankine cycle with liquefied natural gas (LNG) as cold source is a promising power system to utilize mid- and low-temperature heat source. Most previous works focused on thermodynamic and thermoeconomic analysis or optimization for the system. In this article, an off-design performance analysis for the system is conducted. An off-design mathematical model for the system is established to examine the variation of system performance with the variations of heat source mass flow rate and temperature. A modified sliding pressure regulation control strategy, which regulates turbine inlet pressure to keep the temperature difference between heat source temperature and turbine inlet temperature constant, is applied to control the system when off-design conditions happen. The results show that when the mass flow rate or the temperature of heat source is less or lower than that of design condition, both the net power output of system and the system exergy efficiency decrease, whereas when they are more or higher than the values of design condition, the net power output of system increases but the system exergy efficiency still decreases. In addition, both CO2 turbine and NG turbine could almost keep the designed efficiency values under the applied control strategy.  相似文献

This paper presents a simple methodology for estimating pressure pressure buildup due to the injection of supercritical CO2into a saline formation, and the limiting pressure at which the formation starts to fracture. Pressure buildup is calculated using the approximate solution of Mathias et al. [Mathias, S.A., Hardisty, P.E., Trudell, M.R., Zimmerman, R.W., 2009. Approximate solutions for pressure buildup during CO2 injection in brine aquifers. Transp. Porous Media. doi:10.1007/s11242-008-9316-7], which accounts for two-phase Forchheimer flow (of supercritical CO2 and brine) in a compressible porous medium. Compressibility of the rock formation and both fluid phases are also accounted for. Injection pressure is assumed to be limited by the pressure required to fracture the rock formation. Fracture development is assumed to occur when pore pressures exceed the minimum principal stress, which in turn is related to the Poisson’s ratio of the rock formation. Detailed guidance is also offered concerning the estimation of viscosity, density and compressibility for the brine and CO2. Example calculations are presented in the context of data from the Plains CO2 Reduction (PCOR) Partnership. Such a methodology will be useful for screening analysis of potential CO2 injection sites to identify which are worthy of further investigation.  相似文献

A new variable-speed ground-coupled liquid desiccant air-conditioner was proposed and applied to a multi-storey office building in a temperate city of Kunming in China. Dynamic system simulations were performed to compare its performance with a constant-speed ground-source heat pump system. It was found that the use of the new system for a single-floor office reduced the annual unbalanced load to the ground heat exchanger borefield by nearly 70% together with a borehole depth reduction of up to 30%. For the case of a multi-storey office building, the number of floors served could be increased by 144% together with a reduction of CO2 emission by 43%. The results highlighted the merit of the new hybrid system with enhanced applicability when it was applied to a multi-storey office building in a temperate city.  相似文献

An untreated sewage source heat pump system directly makes use of the urban raw sewage instead of that treated by a sewage plant. At present In China, most systems adopt the indirect mode for avoiding the harmful effect of the sewage on the heat pump unit. In this article a direct-mode untreated sewage source heat pump system, which shows less theoretical analysis of the mathematical model, is theoretically designed and analyzed to simulate the system dynamic characteristics in the heating mode. The results show that the system COP changes from 4.1 to 3.4 and the heating capacity from 9.5 to 15.3 kW when the sewage inlet temperature is 12°C and the frequency increases from 18 to 32 HZ. The condenser heat-transfer coefficient increases with the frequency reducing while the change trend of evaporator heat-transfer coefficient is the opposite. The highest values of them are 303 and 1617 W.m?2?K?1, respectively. The frequency control simulation supplies the operation adjustment with theoretical instructions and some reference values.  相似文献

Accurate experimental data on the thermo-physical properties of CO2-mixtures are pre-requisites for development of more accurate models and hence, more precise design of CO2 capture and storage (CCS) processes. A literature survey was conducted on both the available experimental data and the theoretical models associated with the transport properties of CO2-mixtures within the operation windows of CCS. Gaps were identified between the available knowledge and requirements of the system design and operation. For the experimental gas-phase measurements, there are no available data about any transport properties of CO2/H2S, CO2/COS and CO2/NH3; and except for CO2/H2O(/NaCl) and CO2/amine/H2O mixtures, there are no available measurements regarding the transport properties of any liquid-phase mixtures. In the prediction of gas-phase viscosities using Chapman–Enskog theory, deviations are typically <2% at atmospheric pressure and moderate temperatures. The deviations increase with increasing temperatures and pressures. Using both the Rigorous Kinetic Theory (RKT) and empirical models in the prediction of gas-phase thermal conductivities, typical deviations are 2.2–9%. Comparison of popular empirical models for estimation of gas-phase diffusion coefficients with newer experimental data for CO2/H2O shows deviations of up to 20%. For many mixtures relevant for CCS, the diffusion coefficient models based on the RKT show predictions within the experimental uncertainty. Typical reported deviations of the CO2/H2O system using empirical models are below 3% for the viscosity and the thermal conductivity and between 5 and 20% for the diffusion coefficients. The research community knows little about the effect of other impurities in liquid CO2 than water, and this is an important area to focus in future work.  相似文献

The CO2 absorption capacities of potassium glycinate, potassium sarcosinate (choline, proline), mono-ethanolamine (MEA), and tri-ethanolamine were evaluated to find the optimal absorbent for separating CO2 from gaseous products by a CO2 purification process. The absorption loading, desorption efficiency, cost, and environmental tolerance were assessed to select the optimal absorbent. MEA was found to be the optimum absorbent for separating the CO2 and H2 mixture in gaseous product. The maximum absorption loading rate was 0.77 mol CO2 per mol MEA at temperature of 20°C and absorbent concentration of 2.5 mol/L, whereas desorption efficiency was 90% by heating for 3 h at 130°C. MEA was found to be an optimal absorbent for the purification process of CO2 during gaseous production.  相似文献

This study examines parametric approaches to the calculation of refrigerant-based CO2 emissions in different cooling areas. Both the exergy analyses of refrigerants, used in domestic, commercial, transportation and industrial applications, and the environmental performances regarding exergetic irreversibility are investigated separately. Then, CO2 emissions caused by systems are examined via two different parameters, I°) Environmental Impact Factor and ??°) Integrated Impact Factor (CIF). The study is based on a vapor compression cooling cycle model, commonly preferred by cooling applications, and the analyses have been made for 1 kW cooling capacity in relation to evaporator temperatures of the systems. In all cooling application, R134A gas stands out among the others in terms of coefficient of performance and exergy efficiency. Moreover, both emission analyses show that it has the lowest emission value. The paper concludes with an evaluation of the reasons for the refrigerant choice, the design and the selection of such a system, and why exergetic and environmental parameters should be preferred.  相似文献

Climate change is being caused by greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is of interest to the scientific community as one way of achieving significant global reductions of atmospheric CO2 emissions in the medium term. CO2 would be captured from large stationary sources such as power plants and transported via pipelines under high pressure conditions to underground storage. If a downward leakage from a surface transportation system module occurs, the CO2 would undergo a large temperature reduction and form a bank of “dry ice” on the ground surface; the sublimation of the gas from this bank represents an area source term for subsequent atmospheric dispersion, with an emission rate dependent on the energy balance at the bank surface. Gaseous CO2 is denser than air and tends to remain close to the surface; it is an asphyxiant, a cerebral vasodilator and at high concentrations causes rapid circulatory insufficiency leading to coma and death. Hence a subliming bank of dry ice represents safety hazard. A model is presented for evaluating the energy balance and sublimation rate at the surface of a solid frozen CO2 bank under different environmental conditions. The results suggest that subliming gas behaves as a proper dense gas (i.e. it remains close to the ground surface) only for low ambient wind speeds.  相似文献

The prepared different components municipal solid wastes based carbons were used to investigate the adsorption of CO2. The optimum conditions for CO2 adsorption were investigated firstly. And then, the CO2 adsorption performance of different components based carbon adsorbents were compared with each other under the optimum parameters. The results illustrated that the triple components (pinewood, acrylic textile, and tire) based carbon exhibited the best adsorption performance, which is 1.522 mmol/g and its physical prosperity was also conducted to interpret the adsorption mechanism. Besides, to further approach to the actual gas, the influence of additional O2 and SO2 on CO2 adsorption properties of ternary-component-based carbon was investigated. The results illustrate that O2 concentration exerts little effect on adsorption capacity. SO2 plays the dominated role in the competitive adsorption effect.  相似文献

Energy, cost, and environmental concerns play a vital role in understanding governing parameters of distributor design in falling film evaporators. Distributor design is a hidden parameter in many experimental papers. The uniform distribution of liquid refrigerant over the tube bundle mostly depends on two-phase liquid refrigerant and vapor refrigerant. This work conducted experiments with two distribution systems with and without separation of liquid-vapor refrigerant after expansion valve for the same evaporator capacity with R134a as a refrigerant. Results reveal that; separating vapor refrigerant has a positive impact on the approach of the evaporator with an open system distributor arrangement. The highest delta T and lowest practice are found at a heat flux of 13.97 kW/m2 with an available system distributor compared to a closed system with a heat flux of 14.25 kW/m2. The open system arrangement in the distributor is the novel parameter for distributor design, ensuring uniform distribution with minimum pressure drop and dry suction. An open system distributor has an average 16.1% capacity increase over a closed system. The experimental analysis helps to understand different parameters for the design of distributors in falling film evaporators for uniform distribution.  相似文献

This article presents the performance analysis of a single-stage metal hydride-based heat transformer (SS-MHHT) working with three different alloy pairs, namely LaNi4.6Al0.4/MmNi4.15Fe0.85, LaNi4.61Mn0.26Al0.13/La0.6Y0.4Ni4.8-Mn0.2, and Zr0.9Ti0.1Cr0.9Fe1.1/Zr0.9Ti0.1Cr0.6-Fe1.4. The performances of the SS-MHHT are predicted by solving the conjugate heat and mass (hydrogen) transfer equations in cylindrical coordinates. The effects of various parameters such as heat output (TH), heat input (TM), and heat sink (TL) temperatures on the coefficient of performance (COPHT), specific heating power (SHP) and second law efficiency (ηE) are presented. The effects of overall heat transfer coefficient and mass ratio on the coefficient of performance (COPHT) and specific heating power (SHP) are also presented. Numerical results are compared with the experimental data reported in the literature, and a good agreement is found between them. The maximum COPHT of 0.436 and SHP of 54 W/kg are obtained for LaNi4.61Mn0.26Al0.13/La0.6Y0.4Ni4.8-Mn0.2 pair. For a given operating temperatures of TM = 358 K and TL = 298 K, the maximum temperature lift of about 50 K is predicted for Zr0.9Ti0.1Cr0.9Fe1.1 /Zr0.9Ti0.1Cr0.6Fe1.4 pair.  相似文献

Permeability is one of the most important parameters for CO2 injection in coal to enhance coalbed methane recovery. Laboratory characterization of coal permeability provides useful information for in situ permeability behavior of coal seams when adsorbing gases such as CO2 are injected. In this study, a series of experiments have been conducted for coal samples using both non-adsorbing and adsorbing gases at various confining stresses and pore pressures. Our observations have showed that even under controlled stress conditions, coal permeability decreases with respect to pore pressure during the injection of adsorbing gases. In order to find out the causes of permeability decrease for adsorbing gases, a non-adsorbing gas (helium) is used to determine the effective stress coefficient. In these experiments using helium, the impact of gas sorption can be neglected and any permeability reduction is considered as due to the variation in the effective stress, which is controlled by the effective stress coefficient. The results show that the effective stress coefficient is pore pressure dependent and less than unity for the coal samples studied. The permeability reduction from helium experiments is then used to calibrate the subsequent flow-through experiments using adsorbing gases, CH4 and CO2. Through this calibration, the sole effect of sorption-induced strain on permeability change is obtained for these adsorbing gas flow-through experiments. In this paper, experimental results and analyses are reported including how the impact of effective stress coefficient is separated from that of the sorption-induced strain on the evolution of coal permeability.  相似文献
