Natural refrigerant ammonia R-717 and synthetic azeotropic refrigerant R-507 (a blend containing 50% R-143a and 5% R-125 by weight) are used in a wide range of refrigeration systems especially in low-temperature applications. R-717 and R-507 are ozone friendly refrigerants, which have no Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP). Global Warming Potential (GWP) of R-717 and R-507 is equal to zero and 3300, respectively. The high amount of R-507 GWP demonstrates its negative effect on the Earth’s climate change. In this study, a refrigerated warehouse located in Cincinnati, Ohio was modeled and the total energy demand and Coefficient of Performance (COP) was evaluated by eQUEST using two scenarios. The R-717 and R-507 were used as refrigerant in the first and second scenarios, respectively. The results showed that using R-717 in the refrigeration system leads to a 15% energy saving and a higher COP compared to R-507 in all working conditions. The only exception is that at an evaporating temperature below ?35°C which COP values of both refrigerants are approximately equal.  相似文献

Environmental pollutants such as microplastics have become a major concern over the last few decades. We investigated the presence, characteristics, and potential health risks of microplastic dust ingestion. The plastic load of 88 to 605 microplastics per 30 g dry dust with a dominance of black and yellow granule microplastics ranging in size from 250 to 500 μm was determined in 10 street dust samples using a binocular microscope. Fluorescence microscopy was found to be ineffective for detecting and counting plastic debris. Scanning electron microscopy, however, was useful for accurate detection of microplastic particles of different sizes, colors, and shapes (e.g., fiber, spherule, hexagonal, irregular polyhedron). Trace amounts of Al, Na, Ca, Mg, and Si, detected using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, revealed additives of plastic polymers or adsorbed debris on microplastic surfaces. As a first step to estimate the adverse health effects of microplastics in street dust, the frequency of microplastic ingestion per day/year via ingestion of street dust was calculated. Considering exposure during outdoor activities and workspaces with high abundant microplastics as acute exposure, a mean of 3223 and 1063 microplastic particles per year is ingested by children and adults, respectively. Consequently, street dust is a potentially important source of microplastic contamination in the urban environment and control measures are required.  相似文献

To determine the effects of noise exposure on hearts of newborn mice, 48 pregnant mice were exposed to recorded aircraft flight noise (100?dB) for 150?min from the 2nd day of pregnancy to 7th day after delivery. Mice of the same age were selected as control group. The weights and crown-rump lengths of the fetuses and the newborns were measured, and their hearts were removed under deep anesthesia on the 1st, 7th, and 14th days after birth and prepared histologically. Quantitative changes of the hearts were measured stereologically by the Cavalieri method. The ultrastructural changes of cardiac myocytes were examined using transmission electron microscopy. No histological changes were observed, but the volumes of newborns’ hearts in the experimental groups increased significantly compared to the control group. Photomicrographs of cardiac muscle cells revealed nuclear envelope changes, chromatin condensation, and increased mitochondria and myofibrils in noise-exposed newborns. It is concluded that the newborns of pregnant mice exposed to noise stress have hypertrophic hearts with ultrastructural changes.  相似文献
